Ok. Good for you. You can forget about trucks, as a properly designed truck will not have blind spots other than behind it.

 

I think it would be neat to have a camera for blindside backing, but that's about it

I don't know what to tell you. If a driver has that big of a blind spot that they try to pass a truck that's moving over, a hundred different cameras won't help.

The fact is that bad driving is everywhere. It isn't an equipment issue, it's a driver issue, whether for trucks or for four wheelers.

 

I'd love one for blindside backing. I can back sightside really well but #### I look like an idiot blindsiding.

 

There are blind spots in most trucks, i would put them on my truck.

 

If cars would realize the blind spots. Us truckers wouldn't have a problem.

Course, when mirrors are installed. Truckers can see the stupid cars in their blind spots. There's really no need for cameras. But since there is. They're already coming out on cars. Honda already sells them mounted in the mirrors.

And even if there was a system for trucks. It be YEARS before cars wouldn't have to worry about being in blind spots they don't think about. Trucks stay on the road for a LONG time. And NO ONE is going to retrofit their trucks for cameras and a screen in the dash like what cars have these days.

It's going to take years before cars really become effective also. Not everyone is going to rush out and buy a brand new 2018 vehicle. Crap. I've still got 3 years left on my brand new car loan.

 

Rear view cameras are already fairly common on buses and big motor homes. Newer cars have an automatic blind spot camera and display. No reason the same technology can't be available on big trucks. (Maybe it is an option, I don't know)

Also, many trucks are equipped with blind side vehicles detection systems (sonar based) that beeps when a vehicle is detected and the appropriate turn signal is activated.
