You're talking to a bunch of Floridians... they might bring the cat in and take the clothes off they line before hitting the recliner to wait it out.

Cat 5 is deffinately strong enough to seek higher ground. How are earthquakes rated?
-
That would be logical and most don't use logic when panicked. Water is easy. You have access to thousand of gallons before the storm. Enough beer and ice to last a week takes planning.
-
ha ha ha
earthquake scale -
Well it depends on who you ask.

Just wanted to reaffirm this. Pretty much sums up Florida and any other tropic, gulf, or hurricane prone state in the U.S.

I drink water straight from the tap.I can't imagine how much a case of water cost in florida.

I don't know how I would react if a hurricane was named hurricane patty lol.

Mandatory evacuations are in place in the keys.

This storm is a record one, I think there was a 190 sustained in the atlantic basin at one point long ago. This one is already at 185 and there is nothing in it's part of the world that will slow it down. Land interaction means nothing. If Miami gets a direct hit, it is a good chance they would be destroyed. It's developed a eye like nothing seen before. Almost a triple eye sort of with a smaller ring, medium and bigger ring behind that. Waves inside that area approach 50 plus feet. If that goes into Miami and anyone is still there they will be drowned or chopped by flying glass (Remember the first three floors or so is reinforced glass. The rest of the veneer is not. It will be Fort Worth times 100 from hell.
I got family down there. They need to take off like tonight and do not stop until they hit at least North Carolina. If it crosses florida like a speed bump and hits the even warmer waters of the gulf. We will probably lose Biloxi, Mobile or New Orleans for sure. Then either Mississippi and Arkansas. Me? I aint going anywhere. Here is just as good as there. There is a University built in 1950 with a state hall with a formal Fall Out shelter under the ground that is accessible not too far away. Being underground in this kind of storm will be a life saver. It's equal to a F4 Tornado gone wild but will need a day and change to blow through instead of 5 minutes. The devestation I expect will be nothing short of biblical.
There is no one alive I don't think who has ever ridden this one. Andrew will be the closest comparison but so many millions in Florida has been born since Andrew and never had a hit like what they have coming. If they don't take off now, they are as dead man walking. I am not kidding.
There is fixing to be a awful lot of trucking in a crying need if those of you are under tier two and do not drive but hold a CDL, expect that phone to ring and a 18 wheeler be given to you to run regardless of your situation.tucker and Western flyer Thank this.
