Hey Wallbanger thanks for the clue on the mileage. I knew it was something to do with household goods but wasn't sure exactly what they used. I will tell Redcoat your formula for the QC mileage for when he gets out on his own.
I asked him today if his trainer allows him to do the trip packs and he said, no, that his trainer doesn't trust him to do them. Doesn't even trust him to mail the darn thing!!! Says he wants to make sure they get paid. My thinking is that a decent trainer would make sure his student knew all the details to check in putting a trip pack together so he'd be able to do it once he tests out. Oh yeah, silly me. This is Covenant we're talking about.
AU Truckers Wife I sent you a PM so you can email me that link you posted that was stripped.
And mannmk7 you're right on the slave wages. Redcoat said he could go to Wal-Mart and make more than that. But he's gone too far and endured too much to turn back now so he's determined to see it through.
Currently they are on their way from Georgia to Maine and are somewhere in Maryland resting for the night. I'm guessing they're probably at one of those rest areas off I-95 (Delaware or Maryland House maybe?). RC says it was so crowded that they parked in an RV space.
I keep getting on to RC to make sure he's eating right as I've found out that he's having a devil of a time stopping for his meals. Potato chips and cans of Red Bull aren't going to cut it and I'm worried that his resistance will get low and he'll get sick.
Other from that he's got 7 more 4-hour shifts to go. We're counting them down......

No prob, glad I could help. Nice trainer, mine used to split Trippak duty- make me write it up, and then he would check it out. Oh yeah- RC should pick up one of those expanding file folders (Dollar General has them for cheap), to keep all his trip related paperwork- not just blank sheets, but the carbon copies he keeps for his own records. Will really help by keeping everything organized, rather than scattered all over the truck.
Glad he and his trainer were able to find a parking spot- I can't remember how many times I had to kip on an on-off ramp shoulder just to get some zzz's. I will be keeping the countdown doing too! -
There's NO reason why RC can't do the paperwork and then his trainer check it for errors.
Or at least observe his trainer completing the paperwork, and be able to ask questions.
UNLESS, ........ that's the way Covenant WANTS their trainers to train, ----
hoping that the newBees will make mistakes in Covenants favor.
If nothing else, wouldn't four eyes be better than two?
Call it "double checked".
Sounds fishy to me, ...........
and I don't mean H. Salt Esq.

so have i come across as a loose cannon, or has what i wrote seem true?
worste part of the whole deal is that i swithched over to a dedicated board, and here i still sit.
when i get to place that has had freight, when i get there zero, the place i left many miles back that had zero, now is chock full of freight..... i sat in charlotte 2.5 days....
now i'm near houston and here i'll sit for maybe 2 days.......
no one to talk to here........all yes men/women at the controls.
there are no team miles, no solo miles, no freight, no money.......
i hope rc fares better when he gets out........... here it's a game of whose booty you will kiss to get what you want/need.
best wishes MCR. -
Hey MCR do you drive for Covenant as a team or solo. Are dedicated routes only for solo drivers?
Latest update.
Redcoat made it up to Maine from Georgia and now they are on their way from Maine to near San Diego. Talk about a monster trip. They are hauling something to do with naval construction. They left this morning with RC taking the first shift. Their load doesn't have to be there until late in the week so they have plenty of time. RC figures by the time they finish with this trip and get back to this side of the country he should be ready to test out. Hopefully.....maybe....
At least this weeks' check should look a little better than last weeks'.....
hopefully....maybe.... -
RC wife, good postings. Tell RC to get bottled water instead of red bull. Also, gatoraide is a good substitute but has the same sugars redbull does. Also, tell him to avoid soda and get granola bars if he can. Any questions, pm me. Keep in mind, I am not a truck driver but a food expert.

Glad to hear that your hubby is nearing the end of his training. I think he will have the opportunity once he is out with a co-driver to find out what he really needs to learn. Hopefully, he can be teamed with a more experienced driver who is willing to continue to help him learn. -
Heck my trainer had me do all the paper work, just so I knew what had to be done Hope RC makes it out ok, and fairs better on his own then with his trainer.. Be sure to have him tell his training dm, or what ever they call it at Covenant, what his trainer did not teach him.. Learning how to do a trip pak should be something they can teach him when he is done training.. I don't miss those days only because the pay was garbage, but I did have a great trainer...

The Trainer should train how to do every bit of the job, which Includes paper work.
Since I been out with USA, I had to show one guy how to do logs, and not run out of hours so fast. The legal short cuts.... And another one how to change a headlight. -
