Lepton1 and TPS Report Thank this. -
@TPS Report I was in the same situation as you. Off the truck for 10 years and was hired by a mail contractor. After 4 months there I had an interview with Old Dominion for P&D position. Yesterday got my second interview there with the TM. Looks good so far, suppose to receive an offer in the mail with the pay rate. Was told it will be more than what I make now which is $21/h. Fingers crossed.
Send applications everywhere. Someone will hire you. After 3 months start applying at the companies you really want to work for. Ignore their listed experience requirements. The worst that will happen is they will say "no". You just wait 6 months and apply again. Make sure you keep your driving record clean. That helps a lot.
As for your age, if you are in good health and shape you'll be fine. If you are not in good shape you will be in couple weeks driving flatbed.
Good luck.Lepton1, TPS Report and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
