My wife was just telling me NC has done the State of Emergency thing. Said it was for trucks to be able to operate through here with supplies. She's pretty tired. My wife works as the gm of hotel down here on my sandbar, so she stays on top of these things. Their prepping for effects from Irma an Juan after.
She just told me when we were talking a bit ago. oh, an the word is the tourists will start to be evacuated from Hatteras either tomorrow, or Friday.
NC governor declares state of emergency ahead of ‘powerful’ Hurricane Irma: ‘Get ready’
Article say it goes into effect at 8am Thursday Morning.

Down in Rodanthe I think is where the house from Nights in Rodanthe was. They had to move it if I recall due to the next storm would wash it away. Owners opted to move it. Same with Hatteras Lighthouse. It's been moved a couple times now due to storms tearing up the beach an shore down there.
An yea..I used to think they were just big thunderstorms till I moved here. Been here off an on thirty years. Lets just say...I got a lot more respect for them now.
Ever return for a visit..try Donut on a Stick across from the duck deli. If you got a sweet tooth that is.

This storm is starting to look ugly for the entire SE. Latest most reliable model has it riding up the east coast of Fla similar to Mathew then coming fully ashore around the Ga/SC line as a cat 4 and taking a stroll up 95 through pine tree country. My guess is 95 from VA south will be virtually a no go all of next week just from the tree clean up alone. I hope the evacuees head West and not North. Either way it is going to be a traffic cluster.

Not that it matters but if anyone travels 64 down around Williamsburg. No need to worry about trees headed towards Norfolk/Va. Beach way...they removed a whole helluva lot of them from the middle section of 64.
Here's to hoping Irma decides she doesn't like land, an decides to head back out to sea.

Lee is gonna be the worst one. It's all Lee's fault. It's shameful that now we're even renaming hurricanes after Confederate generals! Guess it's just proof that the weather is racist.

Andrew was the reason building codes were change in the entire state of Florida. And that small storm tore most of Dade county down.
