Richard Branson's island was obliterated. Lot of hate, sour grapes and shadenfroid about that on social media.

Screw it, if I had his money I'd buy my own island too! Shame it got replaced but I'm sure he can rebuild it easily enough.

Some of these people are staying home but yet they tell others to get out.For example senator Marco Rubio says he and his family are riding it out at home but telling others to seek higher ground and Rubio lives in Miami.Same with storm chasers.

 

Getting out is not a good option for many. Can't get gas. Can't afford gas if you can afford to spend a half day waiting in line for it. And how far is a tank of gas going to get you? No hotels have availability in Florida or south Georgia and you're going to pay through the nose where ever you do find one.

Some people have to stay behind to work where their work will be extremely valuable in the days to come. Medical industry? They can't just close hospitals.

These people chose to live on the beach in the bulls eye of hurricanes. So, many of these people have made certain decisions to weather these storms, for better or for worse.

The US Post Office has closed down completely in south florida.

About 40% of all gas stations (Hundreds) in range of miami are out of fuel. We need hundreds of tanker trucks right now. And I don't think there is any more time. They need 13 to 15 hours down, then empty and get out before the first winds arrive sometime saturday.

My solution would be to grab every Hemitt and Dueces that normally haul armor fuel, fill em with gasoline, Park em at every interstate exit in the right hand lane fill 4 cars at a time as needed until empty. It will slow traffic down but they will get gas there and get out of there.

One last thought. They are shooting some very pretty shots of Miami downtown towers etc properly in the sunset. Enjoy them to the max.

The next time we see them come sunday I expect most of the veneer glass to be completely gone and the interiors emptied out leaving nothing but elevator and stairwell cores.

 

Folks are hoping Irma wont be the monsterous storm that's suppose to hit but 3 days now it remains a category 5 and the most powerful storm that's ever crossed over the Atlantic.One island is 95% destroyed.
