So over the weekend I lost a quart of power steering fluid but was able to make it home. The whole right side frame rail, RF spring/bag is soaked in oil, but I cant find where the leak is coming from.
Its an 08 VNL780 with the D16/iShift. Can anyone point me in the right direction of the pwr steering pump location? What's involved in the replacement of it as well... Hope to climb under it this week
Thanks

Just follow the high and low oil pressure lines from the steering gearbox mounted on the front left side of your frame rail and it will lead you to the power steering pump.
Most likely it's a high pressure hose leaking.
Also make sure you replace with Dexron transmission fluid. -
Ok, so I have leaks on both sides of the motor.. Can anyone tell me what the box is that is bolted to the right frame rail?
-
It would be helpful if you posted a picture.

Are those coolant lines going into the box or power steering lines?
-
No. Those lines are for the power steering only
-
Power steering fluid heater/cooler.
It bolted inside the frame on the right side.
Genius Volvo designers. -
Two lines for power steering and two for coolant.
