that's fine. I'd not want to run steam as a living anyway. On the weekends, yeah.. but day to day? nah.

Before I ever considered trucking, I talked to the guys at the Modoc train school. That's where I learned that my red/green deficiency (slightly colorblind) would pretty much eliminate me as a driver on any class 1 road.

There's only one class 3 in Colorado (not counting the tourist trains), and they use color based signaling too (run on UP track, as I recall). There are come class 2s and 3s that do position based signaling, but not handy to my location - and I'm not ready to move away from here yet.

    Ergo, I got a CDL.

    I'll ask my hunting partner
He has applied a ton of times for on company
I know his buddy got hired on and moved to Wyoming
Any way he has interviewed and even been pre-hired, just couldn't pass the strength test
We think its because he is 350 pounds and when they realized it they changed their minds
He said you have to apply allot and be willing to travel
Many people are brought in for interviews, but most fail the drug screen

Union contract makes you go through a training school provided by the railroad. To get in you must apply. Within 5 to 7 years you will also be required to go to engineers school. This is a pass/fail with failing deemed as refusal of services (termination).

Thanks guys,...Not sure what to do right now......I have apps out for some local driving but have not heard back from them yet..I figured that with more freight going on the rails,..maybe I should look into it..
And to get us back on topic,.....I know I will have no troubles passing drug screening of any kind....

    Thank Again..

There is a member on here who used to be a recruiter for JB Hunt and left to go railroading last summer.

Here is something also, Their are some people that have glocoma and multiple scerolisis that use MJ just for medical purpose. Someone in my family does so I am going to say, for me and other that are at times in close contact with the secend hand smoke. We must not be in close contact because we don't know what is to close. It may test positive just being close.

    psanderson Thanks this.

as I recall - can't find the ref right now - there are strict rules on when/where legit users of medicinal mj can smoke. One of the rules being 'nobody outside the immediate family nearby' - the idea being to prevent second-hand smoke issues.
