Pretty sure you mean dump the air on the rear axle for tight turns? Pulled a lot of air ride spread in the 90's as well as now as a O/O, we always dumped the rear axle on a trailer for tight turning allowing the rear axle to skid / float, and for unloading train wheels. Dumping the trailer made it easier to roll the wheels to the rear of the trailer.Dumped the bags on the truck for loading them too, made it easier to roll them to the front. Always used a binder to steer them into place when loading. Dumping a front axle is the same as lifting a front axle, same results when making a turn.

    My latest acquisition:

    Laugh it up...

Now don't get the impression that I am one of those misfits that has a garage full of these things. I hated these things when they came out, and I was sure the rider had to be in the market for a beef injection if you owned one. My opinion of them has not changed much over the years. But one exactly like this, is mine now.

Why do I own this? Why would I want this? Well, I earned this thing from a guy who had a oil leak in his new garage. I found the oil leak in his 1967 camaro. After I replaced the leaking seal, my buddy asked what I wanted for the favor. I saw this thing hanging out between his model T and nova SS and I said I will take that. So for a $1 dollar seal, I got this; hardly seems worth it.

But here is where the fun comes in. No, not riding it; it is slow as hell, unstable, and you look light in the loafers everytime your near it. But, I will doll it up with a white wicker basket and some flower stickers like you saw in your grandmother's shower. Next step is to take it down to the local watering hole the next time a few of the nicer bikes are out and about. I will park this thing front of, dead center in front of, the most expensive bike seen; I will get more attention from this thing then the guy with 100k note on his custom work. That is usually not at all a criterion for any bike I buy, but that is all this thing is worth.

After all the laughs and giggles are done, maybe a few months or a year, somebody will offer me much more then this thing sold for new. I will put that money to something I will ride hard and not give a crap how it looks.

I know that is not how you expected the answer to your question look. Call me a smart ###... but it is 100% true, and I am going to have a boatload of fun with this thing. Opening the J&P catalog no more defines the rider then the master card it is charged to. You see, I learned long ago the bike doesn't define me, I define the bike. I no intention of going to build "my bike" because the bike isn't me. The bike is just a tool to have fun.

I ride. 16000 miles on Hades alone last year and I have others. I did 30000 in the truck OTR for a comparison. The bike looks a certain way, because I need the bike to function a certain way for me. It's not about Dennis Kirk, Roland Sands and J&P catalogs. The wheel I showed you, you will never see in any catalog. No $10000 worth of Willie G. I'm not one of those guys that just ride to the bars, well if the bar is 1000 miles away, I may just ride to the bar.

Rode 1100 miles to a rally to buy some stuff. Hades draws a crowd because it looks like a bike that most would trailer, but it is obvious that the bike has never been trailer. So the crowd is puzzled. Then they see me. And it clicks. They understand.

I too can have fun without modifying a bike. But I cant do what I want to do on any factory ride. So I put me into the ride.

Everybody does their own thing. I've never even thought about doing major modifications to any bike. The most I ever did was put a custom seat, Vedder fairing, saddle bags and travel trunk on a mid '70's CB750K. Oh yeah, I put running boards on it as well. Didn't like them, so took them off after a few thousand miles.

The only time you have too many bikes or guns or trucks, is when your manly duties are not able to be meet. Such as if your kids are hungry because you had to have something new.
