The time has come .... an update from me.
I know it has been a while since I have posted an update, I was on home time then I was busy busy busy running around the Southeast dodging Irma all the while worrying about what might happen at home.
I left out on 9/7 and picked up from Burris Logistics in Haines City, FL and delivered to East Point, GA to Martin Brower. I got caught in the traffic from the evacuees fleeing from Irma. I think I averaged 35 mph from Haines City to just south of Atlanta ... sucked ###.
From East Point my next load was a t-call or a swap with another driver .... I was under the impression he was near Atlanta ... NO NO NO .. HE IS IN FLORIDA. So I dead head 350 miles back into Florida to Gainesville and meet him near his house and we do the swap. The load delivered to Market Basket in Wilmington, MA this morning. Got in there early this morning, got unloaded and headed on out to the next load.
Arrived at Preferred Frozen in Westfield, MA at 9am ... my driver manager failed to tell me I was a work in because the load was supposed to be picked up yesterday at 2pm .... hhhmmmm. So I sit there for close to 6 hours and I finally get loaded. At this point I am down to about 2 hours left on my 14 hour clock so here I sit in Waterbury, CT at a T/A for the night.
Anyway this load delivers to Interstate Warehouse in Franklin, IN on Friday morning then I pick up from Merchandise Warehouse in Indianapolis, IN and take that load up to Upper Lakes Foods in Northfield, MN for delivery on Saturday. That load might get pulled though because my 70 is running low and I might need to do a 34 hour reset before the week is up.
If I am able to finish the week and get everything delivered I will have 3100 miles, if I miss that last load I will end up with just over 2500.
They have been keeping me running as you can see, life is good. I just need to get me a fridge and I will be all set.
I have my laptop, TV and PS4 with me now so I can stay entertained ... I just need something to keep food and drinks cold and I will be even better.
On the home front everything was fine at my house, my family evacuated over to Orlando from St. Pete and the #### storm turned and went more inland. Our house was fine, except 1 tree fell over into our neighbors yard and broke the fence .... he had it cleaned up before they even got back home today.
My grandma / dads house is fine except they now have lake front property. It has always flooded there for as long as a I can remember, it was just amplified with the rains from Irma. Also two large trees came down in their yard one of which ripped the enter electric meter and breaker box right off the side of the house .... so no power for them for a little while. My dad bought a generator to keep the fridge, and freezers running along with a couple of lights and some fans to keep it cool. One of the trees that fell over was right where I park my truck, I was thinking of staying home and leave out after the hurricane .... glad I didn't now.
Anyway I will try to keep up on updates and if anyone sees me rolling down the highway or stopped at a truck stop or rest area say hi. Can't miss my pale white skin .... LOL.Swedish Chef, drvrtech77, Vic Firth and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dang, man!!! Glad your house and peeps are okay, first and foremost. What a trooper/trucker you are, in the midst of all this. Half of MY family doesn't have power either, so they are all holing up together at my niece's at Lakewood Ranch... elevation a E, and they never lost power but for flickers.
They all want to go to their own homes, but apparently it's not in the cards atm, and we all know what the humidity can do to the valuables and furniture....dang. I'm glad your dad got a generator; not sure where he found to BUY one; I messaged a friend of a friend type of thing for OTHER wife's fam, to get one. Our son, Robert...in B'town, built one out of his lawnmower. If you get bored, look at this: if it shows~!Vic Firth Thanks this. -
I have family in Dunedin and they don't have power, said it might be a few days before it's back on. Glad you're getting good miles and you definetly need to get a fridge for your truck.

Am thanking God that my family is all safe and I'm so glad to see everyone else's family is okay. Hopefully they will get power back quickly. I live in Zephyrhills just north of Tampa and we did good. No power loss and just minor tree damage. My kids in Lakeland and Dade City lost power but came back on yesterday. Glad you are getting good miles @wfutch79. Stay safe everyone and keep on truckin.

So I am back where it all began for me .. at the Columbus Terminal. Have 5 hours left on my 70 so I am sitting to again some and then I am off to deliver Friday morning at 0300 about 3 hours away in Franklin, IN. I think pick up from P&G in Vandalia, OH and deliver to Walmart in Tomah, WI on Saturday.
Raining here ... leftovers of Irma made there way up here. Sitting here in laundry room waiting for the washer and dryer to be free. Will get my laundry done and then I am going to bed. Not sure what I will do tomorrow ... but I will finding something to get in to.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
