Just stay away from dry van outfits that do tire loads and you'll be way ahead of the no-touch game. Refrigerated is the way to go IMO, too. You may have to rarely count some freight prior to loading but that's about as close to touching freight as you'll get.

Used to for Phoenix, I'd recommend Knight Temp controlled but now that they are part of Swift, I'm not so sure how they will work out as a starter outfit. But like @Chinatown says, your options are limited early until you get experience and can move on, then your options open up considerably.

But for now, best advice I can give is don't rush into anything. DO plenty of research into options. Don't commit to anyone [or even the career] until you feel you're sure about what you're getting into and still feel driven to go that route (no pun intended)

That's good to know! The only thing I liked about swift was that it was close but if they're going to pay for my bus ticket or plane ticket that'd be awesome.

Don't let others sway your opinion so much. Swift isn't as bad as others make it sound, as a rookie it really is what you make of the experience.

One guy posted this week, he applied at Stevens and the next day received a bus ticket to Denver and starts classes Monday. Jim Palmer is a little slow, but any of those companies will get you going soon.

Whew, those tire loads @STexan mentioned are rough. I've done those picking up in Tennessee and delivering to Phoenix in the summer. Rough!

I did a few tire loads, but they were all drops. I didn't have to unload.

Well, one good thing about Swift would be that they pulled the in-cab camera out of their trucks.

I wouldn't, there's bound to be a complaint or two about everyone. It's just the quantity of complaints I've read about swift that concern me.

In cab camera? Oh jeez. Not going to be able to lip sink poorly to music with that in there
