You mean employment taxes too? How about maintenance? How much are you able to sock away a mile on maintenance? What about truck replacement? You figuring that in on your income? I mean you got an asset that is depreciating every mile you work it, you need some payback on that.

Just let me say this, most of the megas report a gross income of $4000-$5000 a truck a week ($16,000-$20,000 a month is more then twice what your talking about) . That is just with half, or more of the trucks piloted by steering wheel holders that are clueless and/or don't really want to work. Again just saying to give you some idea what is out there.

How do you determine what "cheap" freight is? Are there any specific brokers or companies that I should work with specifically or avoid?

How do you determine what "cheap" freight is and what isn't? I'm getting started and I know there will be ALOT of trial and error, but is there any freight I should stay away from and what are the good loads?

Anything paying less than $2 a mile to the truck! For over 500 miles! Should be over $3 for anything less! Stay out of florida unless getting $5 a mile

If you take a load from salinas to NYC for 2.00 or 2.25
    That is a cheap load

If you find a load from Nj back to ca for 1.80
    That is a good load

    Does that help?

Letsgetreal, Toomanybikes and Ruthless Thank this.

Its easy how long you been doing and you need a good relationship with your brokers! Try to limit the number of brokets you use ! Always say thankyou! Goes along way !
