    Here's what I'm not understanding.

You're right, of course. With bad logs the truck hypothetically wouldn't have been there to be hit, like the poor guy in Georgia @TurboTrucker posted about many moons ago who lost everything he owned to a civil suit.

Why can't the same logic be applied to the knucklehead driving on the suspended license? If they weren't driving like they should NOT have been in the first place,THEY wouldn't have been there to be hit.

How does this crap even pass muster on 14th Amendment grounds?

This can't hold up in court i had a friend get himself a vehicular man slaughter charge on his 18th birthday due to him having three beers and then getting rear ended at a red light and the other driver who was clearly art fault dying in the accident but since my buddy was not there sober he was automatically at fault and got hit with a 14 year prison sentence no way she wins that lawsuit they are praying your insurance settles out

I delt with a couple of fatalities over my 20 years in management. It boils down to what percentage each was at fault. It gets drug out forever. Once they kept one of our lease refer trailers in impound for 13 months.

Drunk guy, no licence, illegal, no insurance no curent plates on the vehicle ran into the back of our trailer going 55mph at 5:30 on Father's Day Sunday morning in front of an officer that had another vehicle pulled over. CHP had it on its dash cam. Vehicle was traveling in excess of 95 mph on a 5 lane freeway our truck was in the second lane. Killed the drunk passed out passenger. After 13 months our insurance settled for an undisclosed amount. We were totally legal, hours, pretrip, drug screens and I meen everything was legit.

I've noticed a lot of harvest photos on this thread. What's the deal with that line of work? I would guess its seasonal work?

The guys call it a harvest run. It's partially seasonal and partially weather dependant and partially crop ripening dependant. In other words as the crop is ready to go it's gotta get off the field, around bad weather and wet fields. Some stuff like cow corn can sit until fall but combining in snow sucks. Other stuff needs to be harvested ASAP if it's at a certain moisture point or if they are calling for rain in a couple days.
Harvest time is go time. That's why a lot of fall fairs are when they are, either before or after harvest.

I'm running for a custom harvesting company. Start in the south and work our way north. Kinda a thing I always wanted to do but always had a better deal. Money sucks, hours suck, conditions are getting worse. Beer is good some of the stories of our youth are hilarious. Men from all walks of life in every corner of the world are on our crew. Couple young hungry guys with rags for trucks but want better things for their bunch. By far one of the better things I have done. Though I was home sick as I ever been this morning.
