Hey guys I got a job interview for a bulk propane straight truck driver. I had interview for diesel fuel straight truck driver and never got the Job after spending 3 hours interviewing, doing paperwork, doing a math test.....it started rained....never made it to road test. Which I don't understand because why would they spend all that time putting me through series of questions paperwork math tests....and then not give me a road test.
Why does this position pay about 5 dollars less per hour? Same setup straight truck tanker hose ?
How do I get my foot in door this time, any advice driving it for road test or anything else I should know be great.

OBTW, WTH does ".....it started rained...." mean, and what did it have to do with the testing?
Is the propane job a retail delivery to home and business tanks? That in itself could make a difference in pay. I'm not saying it SHOULD, I'm saying it COULD.Grubby Thanks this. -
Phone interview 1/hour
Office waiting around 30 min
Doing application paperwork 30
Interview 20 min
Math test 10 min
Why would they continue if it were the paperwork I screwed up? I asked if my math was right. He said it was fine..
I didn't think to ask him why we didn't road test...it just started pouring
Different company. I'm not sure if it is home.or business.
It is a bulk tank...not individual cylinder sBig Don Thanks this. -
Thanks for the clarification. Obviously I don't know what was going on there. Did you either fail or refuse a piss test? I'm not asking you to respond to that question in the forum, but if you did fail or refuse, that would be a significant reason.
(Please don't think I'm insulting your intelligence, I have no way of knowing what your experience is.)
Did you ask them, either at the time of your interview, or by contacting them later, what the problem is? If not, perhaps you should ask them that.
As to the pay difference, what they pay is up to the company. But I can see where retail delivery might pay less. Particularly if this is a small outfit. -
They didn't ask for Piss test nor did I fail one.....
Not to be racist or anything, I think they prefer to hire one of their own. Hiring person was on contract. Maybe tried to make it seem like he was really doing his job
Everytime i see one their trucks, it always an Indian driver
Propane company seems like a pretty big company.....pay goes up depending on performance..
But were talking like 5 dollars lesa to start than diesel fuel companyLast edited: Sep 14, 2017

What so I need to keep in mind for to pass road test this time?
-
First you said you didn't get a road test, but now you said this time. So I'm a bit confused here. From your posts I'm guessing that English is not your primary language. With this in mind, I'm trying to understand your posts.snowwy Thanks this. -
What do I need to remember? Tips?? Driving small tanker
I've never been on a company road test like this... -
Main thing is to keep your cool. The tester is not your enemy, pay attention to what the tester wants you to do. Don't try to fake it. Don't be afraid to say that you are nervous. It's a natural reaction to taking a driving test.
I'm not going to touch on such basics as doing a good pretrip or obeying traffic rules. You already know that stuff.Goodguy88 Thanks this. -
Have u ever done propane?
I'm looking for actual tips to drive it..
This isn't just a normal straight truck. I'm moving liquid..
A pickup with a 500 gallon tank trailer isn't exactly the same
