Possibly going TMC.. advice?

I have one word of advice for you. RUN AWAY!!! They micromanage everything you do and treat people like crap. I worked for them.

 

I would say read the TMC threads then make your own decision. They do control your every movement , however you are moving their freight. I was treated well for the five years I worked there. I didn't like the way they did some things but I was in their was their sand box. If you can think on your own then they might be a good fix for you. Being fresh out of school you won't have many choices. And they do have automatics along with manuals.

TMC is a good company to work for, Yes they have lots of rules, and micro mannage a bit, but excelent training, hometime and pay. I have been here for almost 5 years and they can be over bearing with rules, and such, but the paycheck is allways good, and we get home everyweekend!

 

Weekends, that's a joke. Don't consider barely being home for a day a weekend.

 

Tell them the truth with everything they ask, and don't act like an idiot or show off and you will be fine.

 

Just remember when you go to orientation it is a week or 2 week long job interview, same thing when you are with your trainer. Make the best of it, and do not be afraid to ask questions. Respect, integrity and honesty are key here as well. If you find TMC is not for you , at least stick it out for 6 months, you do not want to have a bunch of companys on your record as a rookie driver . If you have anyother questions dont be afraid to ask

I dont know if you had an experience or what you heard, but i am home every-weekend unless i choose to run and it is from 40-48 hours each time. Alot of the hometime is on the driver and how he runs his truck and logs, also location is key!
