Werner is not just for starting out. Some people stay on there for years. It's all in what you are looking for. I personally know 2 drivers at Werner that don't have any complaints. One has been there for 7 years and one for 16 years. There are also lots of people that have had bad experiences with them. You never know how a company is going to work out for you unless you go work for them. Maybe I'll like it at Werner, maybe I won't. I guess we'll find out. I'm gonna go in with a positive attitude and see what happens.

That is the case with pretty much every company out there. What fits for one person doesn't fit for another. Going in with a positive attitude does make a difference. I know one Werner driver that has been there for years (don't remember how many right now), and he is a trainer. He was my hubby's trainer, and is a very good one.

Did you receive any other offers from other companies? I had 4 offers when I graduated and went with Werner. The two main reasons for that was that I'm close to a terminal and I didn't have a wait before being eligible for a dedicated route.

My training was long and trying but I stuck it out. I started to look into other companies though after all of the dedicated routes disappeared and I felt I was going into exactly the opposite of what I wanted. Perseverence paid off though and I was eventually given an excellent route and could not be happier at this time. It truly paid to stay, and in the end, it was that perseverence and positive attitude that kept me on and made the end result possible.

Just as others have posted here on this thread, it can be a good place to start. It can also be a good place to stay if everything is to your liking or you have enough gumption to get past a hard time now and then. I know several people who have 10+years with Werner and have stayed despite slow freight times and difficult dispatchers. There are always going to be some that have had bad experiences and that rings true for virtually any company, product, etc. I've noticed people bashing companies when they didn't even work for the company, but it happened to their "friend" instead.

Just keep having a positive attitude and don't let little things get in your way of being successful.

    Good luck.

That's right, too many people are cutting and running at the first sign of trouble. any job is going to suck when you first start out. I was making less than mimimum wage when I first got in the military and I was doing all the C$%& work, but after a few years I was making a pretty decent living. I know that Werner has a reputation for low miles unless you can get on a dedicated. That is why I am being proactive about getting a dedicated run. I already talked to driver placement and the dispatcher for the run I want and have been told it isn't a problem. If, for some reason I don't get it right away I'm not going to quit and try to look for another company. I'm going to stay positive and keep trying. A wise man once told me that luck will run out quicker than pacience.
