These forums saved me from going to JBHunt. I've had an absolutely miserable time with Werner. Can anyone give me some pre-knowledge about Schneider orientation in Carlisle, PA. Hopefully as recent as possible. What's the road test like? Are they giving trucks to drivers or sending them away after orientation? Are they hurting financially like Werner and Swift. Any information from anyone about RECENT experience is greatly appreciated.

Don't quote me, but I believe there's a thread or 2 here about Schneider temporarily halting all inexperienced driver training...if you're experienced, you're alright.

You are correct Beehive. Here's a link to one of the threads Schneider Schools closed ?.
There are several other Schneider threads that you will find just by using the search feature at the top.Last edited: Nov 5, 2008

ok so the schneider schools may be closed but can i go to my own CDL school and possibly get hired from schneider after completing the school?
-
apply to Schneider. You may get lucky, but it's a 2yr tuition commitment.
If you are close to a high freight area they will hire you. Maybe try bulk. -
does anyone have a link to anything outside this forum to support them not taking trainees? I have not found anything.

Google them and call. They are taping over their phone numbers on their trailers, and possibly will be taking a few students at their Green Bay, Wisconsin facility. The word from people that drive for them and that have contacted them is that they are concentrating on hiring experienced drivers at this time.

i went the school in carlisle pa in aug the orientation is only 3 days a road test pre trip and test easy yes if you pass you will go home with a truck and no they are not hurting for money the hotel has a out door pool

drivers have been taping/spraying over the 1-800-pride on the back of the Schneider trailers for years.
=many discontent ex-Schneider drivers it seems.
I believe Schneider is hiring, but they are very picky and want you living very close to the freight as a solo. Still hiring team and O/O. For starters I think team is a great way to learn and the pay is better. However few teams last.
They say they are not hiring, but I still see newbs at the O/Cs. -Send in the application -what's to lose. Personally I would like to start in April/May when Winter isn't so harsh and the roads are a little easier. -
I called. My wife and I had put applications in to be a team. They said they're only hiring experienced drivers.
Call yourself. Can't hurt.
