LaBatt Foodservice might hire you. They have a training program for drivers that didn't attend cdl school. Run Texas and New Mexico.
McLane Foodservice has a similar program. Make about $70K from what their drivers say. That's about average for foodservice jobs.

Might find some small outfit on Craigslist.

 

I'm from Austin and didn't attend a CDL school as well . I found it difficult to find CDL work for a new driver with no schooling . Went with USA Otr, did 3 months and went O/O . Good luck in the Capital of Tx !

 

LaBatt has "route drivers" and "route driver helpers." The ads I've seen show "route driver helpers" are drivers that are inexperienced or only have a cdl permit.

I grew up on a farm in the mid-west, being the youngest and a girl, all I could do was drive stuff- at 9 yrs old I was put behind the wheel of our willy's jeep and pulled a wagon for my brothers to stack hay on- and at 18 got a chauffeurs license, which was then all that was required to drive a truck, and drove our 65 Kenworth pulling a grain wagon around Northern Indiana. In 86 when I was finally 23 and the CDL became law I wanted to work for Navajo, even though I could drive and got my CDL beforehand- they had me go to a school for a "refresher" course so their insurance would cover me.
My point being- be prepared to go sit in a class and then do their driving with an instructor (which you will probably be better at handling the truck than the instructor is) so they can say you went to a school so their insurance won't freak out about the company hiring you.
