From what I understand, as of 9/30/17 drivers domiciled in California will be paid $11/hr for all on-duty not driving time. But they will also lose accessorial pay. So instead of getting a fixed dollar amount to drop/dock trailers or unload furniture, like drivers from other states, they'll be paid hourly instead.

Any opinions on whether this is a good or bad thing?

I think lots of drivers are going to be running out of hours.

You think they'll be trying to milk that lucrative $11 an hour?

So, Cali truck drivers truly are worth less than fast food workers? Great

Perhaps they'll actually secede from the Union & save people the labor of digging?

It said for all "on duty, not driving" time. Look how many companies pay nothing for on duty, not driving time. $11/hr is better than what most drivers get, which is zero.
