Trying to sleep on a dime never works for me, I might as well stay up.

Same here; when the 2 is done, I'm just THEN getting drowsy. It's not usually optimal, at all. To me, it's easier to take the 2 before the 8 on the split (of course only IF it works out in favor of the trip plan;) so by the time the 8 comes.... I'm beat.

I would've responded, "I'm not late, load planning was."

Husband had something similar happen with a load from a weekend dispatcher this week. He got a 1200 mile load which was great but he was already running low on hours. He ran about 1,000 miles and met a relay person with 5 min left on his clock. Too close for comfort and he's now sitting enjoying a nice 34 hour reset in Pennsylvania. Although, I don't think he actually used the words enjoy, lol.

I am finally out of the Northeast ... Got unloaded there in Lawrence, MA and shut down for the night just up the road on I-93 in New Hampshire.

Got a load assignment the next morning ... what a mess that was. What was supposed to be a preloaded trailer ended up me waiting over 8 hours for a live load at Yankee Candle in South Deerfield, MA .... 14 burnt up again. Shut down a little bit down the road at Whatley Diner.

Load delivered to Pataskala, OH yesterday ... of course the address on the Qualcomm was incorrect .... but I found it. Got unloaded very quick.

Was preplanned to pick up in Minster, OH from Dannon and take it to Allentown, PA ... that got pulled off me. Thank God ... want a break from that area for a little bit.

New load assignment took me to Trotwood, OH to pick up from Pro Logistics/DHL/Hormel. I got there super early, appointment was at 1730 and I checked in at 1230. She told me to back into door 13, which I did, got my paperwork caught up and was getting comfortable. Just kicked my shoes off and laid down when I get a knock. Guy was out there pulling my red line to start loading me .... what?! I was loaded and out of there by 1500. Load delivers to Walmart in Monroe, GA 9/22 @ 1930.

I love I am heading South BUT its hotter than the hinges of hell on the 4th of July in the middle of August down there.

The Northeast does get on your nerves maybe they'll give you a break for a few days.

It's been in the NINETIES here in Ohio this last week and a half... went to the fair in SHORTS last weekend; usually bring gloves and hats, LoL! This weather's gonna bite some butts in the eventual scheme of things......but I'm no meteorologist, so what do I know....Almanacs and speculation (and 50 plus years in Ohio, hehehe) is all I've got.

Be safe, stay cool bro...... Keep those wheels down and turning! ;) Glad to see you update!

So I am STILL in Atlanta ..... what a day what a day.

This morning I left from Monroe, GA with what I thought was plenty of time to drive the 40 miles over to our drop lot in College Park to pick up a loaded trailer and deliver it 8 miles around the corner. So I get there, get the trailer and head to McLane ... well I get there 20 minutes late and they refuse the load. Appointment was at 0400. So here I am sitting waiting for night/weekend dispatch to let me know what to do. Around 8am they finally tell me to take it back to the drop lot and get the empty I left there. So I am out of there by 8:30 and I head over to Norcross for what I thought was going to be an easy, quick load and then drop and hook on the other end in Atlanta .... NOPE!

I got to the shipper at around 0930. I got out of there at 1530 .... yeah. So I head across town to ConAgra/Americold to drop and hook and boogie on out of there to Conyers and pick up my Tennessee load ..... NOPE! After waiting for almost an hour to check-in with my 14 burning away I am told I can not drop it .... WHAT?! The girl says I can not drop until 24 hours before appointment time .... appointment I was given was 9/24 0000 .... so I was within 24 hours according to my load assignment. Thier system said 0001 on 9/25. So off I go to find somewhere to park for the afternoon/night. I am here at the weigh station on I-20 near Atlanta for my 10 hour.

There were a few times over the past couple of days I have wanted to just walk away. I was doubting myself and my ability to drive and manage my time. I became very frustrated and stressed out. I actually packed all my stuff up and was looking at rental cars to get me back home to Florida ..... yeah it was that bad. I talked to my wife and my trainer/mentor and they talked me down off the ledge. I am still a little frustrated but it will all work out in the end.

Dang, man.... SO sorry to hear that....what a nightmare, for sure. I'm glad you ARE sticking it out; it gets easier, I promise. That's pretty effer'd that they wouldn't take you 20 mins late, knowing their own retarded area.

And then, the next comedy of errors (<<< not yours, I assure you...) .... I would have a nice chat with my DM / LP or what y'all call 'em on that one, and GET DETENTION pay. Somebody messed up pushing the right numbers on a keyboard, and IT WASN'T YOU man.

Hang in there; you've got your wife, your mentor, and us'ns. Most of us (if not ALL at some point) have been on a 24 to 34 hour WTF venture.

You could always pm me if you need a number of somebody to text or talk to, man. Proud of ya for sticking it out, though.

    Stay safe;
    Tom
