Not only that, but the "hours" isn't likely a measurement of clock-hours, but rather a count of engine revolutions. Find out what the RPM baseline is for the hour meter...that is the RPM where 1 hour on the clock equals 1 hour on the gauge. Turn a higher RPM, and an hour on the gauge takes less than 60 minutes. Turn a lower RPM and it takes more than 60 minutes to add an hour to the gauge.
Is this excessive idling

Truck does local deliverys only .It is a straight trk . There is a idle shut off but driver knows how to by pass. Truck only works 8/9 hrs a day five days a week.
-
If its local delivery your engine hours are probably fine.

As a HW team we put about 7000 plus hours on our new Detroit over 220000 miles one year. It never got shut off unless it was necessary to clear the buffer inside the Auto software for 30 minutes each week. It worked out to 31 mph average for the year. Considering the shippers in which we lost days and nights waiting... it's not bad. When expressed for two people in minimum wage for the year it's less than what the law says we should gross LOL.

I can use just what I did today. About 15 total miles of city, everything else on 60mph or above speed limit and I only averaged 53.7 mph moving time only. Going back to Feb. 58.8 mph and I did a lot of long distance running in 70+ mph states in that period.
