Dealt with that when I was young and foolish . Then I switched to hopper bottom then tankers . I haven't paid a lumper in over 15 years .

I belive I had a fred meyer load that was fay first too.
It is amazing they will load you most of the time for free but you have to pay to get it off. -
If my memory serves, I always had to pay first if the dock used a lumper service. The only times that was not true was when the company I worked for had a standing arrangement with the dock.

Maybe this is a newbie question, but what the ##)(* am I being expected to pay for? I get paid to take a load from A to B, and now you're telling me I have to pay someone ELSE to unload it for me?????

It isn't out of your pocket . The carrier will reimburse you . If OOIDA was worth their membership fees this practice and unpaid detention time would have ended long ago .Brickman Thanks this.
