Wow, that must be so stressful. Hopefully they can get that surgery scheduled soon!

Had the same in left eye. Doctor said it's caused from sun damage because of the sun shining through the drivers side window. He said wrap around sunglasses and/or window shade would have prevented it.
After that I used a spring loaded window shade on the drivers side door. Bought it at Walmart in the automobile accessories section. Can see the rearview mirror just fine through it.

He's actually in the middle of one of those small hiccups now. He was about 150 miles away from beating his trainer's best mileage day when he got the orders to rescue a load from another driver out of hours. The new load will put him about 70 miles from home which is great since he's due for home time but he's a pretty competitive guy and was really wanting to get that record mileage day, lol.

The frustrating part is his original load was scheduled for delivery tomorrow morning and he was set up for an easy morning run and quick drop. His new run is about 7 hours away to deliver around 10 am but he can't even start driving until 7 am and he'll lose an hour due to the time change. So, he's really stressed since I think there's an insane late/reschedule penalty . This is his first experience with this kind of situation so I'm hoping his dispatcher can work it out tomorrow.

There isn't any late/reschedule penalty. If he is running legal, the company will be fine with that. Tell him don't stress it. Just get it there safe and legal. That's all the company asks.

I guess the other driver said the receiver charges a late/reschedule fee if you missed your time but it all worked out great in the end. His dispatcher got the load rescheduled to Tuesday morning and so my husband was able to shut down today about 20 miles away from the receiver.

The best part is he shut down about 70 miles from home so I was able to throw the dog in the car and go visit him. He was happy to have the company and so was I. And Punk, one of our shih tzus who will probably be his riding buddy, was so happy to be hanging out and getting all kinds of attention from the other drivers, lol

It looks like he had another 3,000+ week. He does really love how they keep you running on long loads. he figures if he's going to be away from home, might as well be running hard.

Oh ok. I thought you meant Britton would hit him with a late/reschedule penalty. Yeah, there are customers who do that stuff. I'm not sure why trucking companies don't tell them to pound sand. As far as I know, Britton would never charge that kind of a fee back to the driver, particularly if the driver was doing his job to the best of his ability, safe and legal. Beyond that, I don't worry too much about customers who have such silly policies. I just worry about keeping Britton happy with me, and me happy with them. The other stuff works out fine after that. Glad you got to see him. And that everything worked out well with his load.

Punk had a great visit and loved the truck. I think he needs a few more visits to get used to it though before he can go otr. Plus, my husband is a brand new driver and wants a bit more experience before he feels he can take care of him in the road anyway.

Another great week with 3200 miles. He's finishing off a 34 hour reset in North Dakota then he'll be on his way back to Indiana. He'll deliver a few hours from home on Monday then he'll head to home to spend some time with us. It's our son's 17th birthday on Monday so we're so happy he'll be home for that.

He's a bit frustrated at having to take a reset again this week but he's getting great miles so he knows he can't really complain. His frustration stems from wanting to run harder but midway through the reset, I could tell he appreciated the down time.

He'll be shutting down a few hours from home on Sunday to set himself up for his delivery Monday morning, so the dog and I will meet up with him on Sunday night so Punk can do a short test run with him. I wanted him to be close to home in case He has any problems and this will give us a good idea whether they both can handle it. He's a great dog and seems to love the truck but I'm a worrier so :dontknow: Plus it gives me an excuse to spend more time with my hubby.

Since it's been a couple of weeks, I thought I'd update. Husband is still getting over 3,000 miles each week with the exception of his home time week. He's been doing a mixture of dry van and reefer; maybe 50/50 and hasn't had as many drop and hooks lately as he did in the beginning. He hasn't really had to wait much though.

He was down in Houston over the weekend and is glad to be out of Texas. His next load was scheduled for Long Island! He's only been solo for 5-6 weeks so this stressed him out to no end. Fortunately, this load was redirected to a drop yard and he has a few preplans to keep him busy through the week (and I think weekend)

I've got to say that everyone was extremely understanding of my husbands concerns about going to New York City and they came up with a change of plans that made my husband happy. He was ready to suck it up and go but is so relieved he doesn't have to.

I know I may seem like a cheerleader for them but so far everyone my husband has had to deal with has seemed to care about the drivers and their problems. He has some electrical problems with the truck that frustrates him and drives him up a wall at times but that's about the worst of his problems so far so he's still very happy with his choice.
