I have been working for CCC Transportation in Jacksonville, Florida for 6 months now. They keep hiring new drivers but keep placing many of us on Stand-Bye at least once a week. They have mastered the ability of paying everyone $10.00 a hour even though we are payed a percentage of each load. We also don't get payed for empty miles.
Today I delivered a load of white cement to a customer that was 2.5 miles away from our terminal, and that was all I got for the day. Payed $10.00 for 1 1/2 hours of work.
Anyway, I'm frustrated that it seems like getting another job with a better paying regional company is impossible until I have 1 year of experience or more. Does this thought process seem correct.
I'm worth more than $10.00 an hour with a CDL in my pocket.

I spent some time hauling cars and it only worked out to $7.23 per hour,.....Right now if I could find work at ten buck an hour I would take it..
-
How much was the load billed out at and what percentage are you supposedly being paid??
On percentage of load you usually don`t get paid m/t miles, your rate should be high enough to cover m/t miles tho. -
I get 23% per load with an average of 5 loads on a 6 day work week. Here is the kicker, round trip from Jacksonville to West Palm Beach is 506 miles with a truck that is set # 57 MPH. It pays $117.00. which equals .23 cents per mile, well below the national average per mile from what I have found. It takes 11 1/2 hours round trip which is legal for Florida time behind the wheel.

You can do better but probably have to go OTR. Peace

To do better you'll probably have to go OTR first as Country said. It can be hell on a family life, but pay out better in the longrun
