Correct on both. I did not recognize the driver's name. I may have seen him around. I heard it is a local driver, but not confirmed. It is a smaller company and it kinda hits home with me. The company mentioned it in a safety message regarding the backup. I would not be expecting them to say boo about it.

Correct, he got out of the truck on fire. A. Passerby put the flames out with a welding blanket.

I have not heard that. Do you know the source? We received 1 message about the crash. It said non life threatening injuries.

Glad I missed it I run that area all the time.
I usually pick up cars over there and Elwood off of Arsenal Road off 55 -

Driving too fast
Following too close
Driver inattention
But you won't find 2 out of 100 drivers that think it has anything to do with them.
I drive that area all the time and I'm probably the slowest truck out there.
Driving like a maniac and going absolutely nowhere!
I'll tell you another thing that's going to add fuel to this already burning fire.
The 14-hour rule!
Most drivers are more dangerous now than ever because of that stupid 14-hour DOT rule.Last edited: Sep 27, 2017
diesel drinker and Kyle G. Thank this. -
Agreed, it is scary how reckless everyone is around there. I think where the crash occurred, the speed limit is either 55 or maybe 70 for cars and 60 for trucks, but it seems if you aren't doing at least 80, you are like a big sitting duck. I think being so close to Chicago, everyone wants to get in and get the #### out as quick as possible. Then you have the dot scales right there that can cause truck related mayhem... it is just altogether a big recipe for disaster. My condolences to everyone involved in this mess.MooneyBravo Thanks this.

I stand corrected. The second FedEx driver was the one that died yesterday.

We have to learn from the mistakes of others we can't possibly live long enough to make them all ourselves!
