Schooling went great. The instructors here are real good. I have NO reservations about coming here. I have never been in a semi before coming here, and I just passed my test with flying colors. We were driving on the first day. I am extremely happy that I did choose to come here. You will enjoy it. Good luck!

 

Awesome! Anything you wish you had known before you showed up? Anything you wish you had with you that they didn't tell you to bring?

 

Boughtout, congratulations.... I finished my 10 day orientation a few weeks back. They routed me home for a couple days and I've been out on the roads ever since. I'm loving it so far, no complaints here.

 

They tell you to bring a Motor Carrier Atlas. I did and they gave us one last week... They are also giving us a Truck Stop guide. You don't need to bring laundry soap, they have it here. Make sure you bring a certified copy of your birth certificate or a valid passport. A regular copy will NOT work. The DMV here is really particular on your forms. That is the only thing I have not liked about this whole process. Anything else you need to know, feel free to ask.

 

Good to hear. I am being routed to GA for my truck, and then will take a load to my home terminal where they said I could take a couple of days off. Can't wait.

I am thinking about going with W/S. Their next 30-day class that I could make would be January 5th... BRRRRR! Great thread by the way, thanks all who have posted.

 

I would be making a career change to go OTR. Anybody have any sage advice on the topic? I mean for this to be within the Watkins/Shepard thread, not a rabbit trail.
