So today is the end of the second day of orientation. I wamted to put up a post last night but I was dog tired and forgot.
The first day was just the normal first day stuff, Walk around and see the terminal, Do paperwork, Take a wiz quiz, then after lunch at culvers they do a road test and make sure you can back a truck. Then after all the road tests and such they gave us cash for dinner and we went to the chinese buffet.
I have to say the LaQuinta Inn is much nicer then most companies put you in. I like the fact they give you a voucher or cash for all meals also. On top of those two things they flew 3 drivers here. One from Georgia, one from South Carolina, and one from Louisiana. So far they are cool here. They have pretty nice equipment from what I have seen so far and they pay better then most that I have talked to.
The only things I do not like are, they don't want you to take most of the major toll roads like Ohio and the PA turnpike. Also their insurance is really expensive for the family plan. Other than that it all sounds good and I can't wait to get on the road.
Today we pretty much went over policies and junk all day, then we did our interviews, then went over a couple more things and the day was done. We qent to subway for lunch and culvers for dinner.
They let us take the van every day to lunch and every night to the hotel so we can get dinner wherever we want and go to walmart or other stores if we need to.
Tomorrow we get our truck assignments and find out who our DMs are and go over Qualcomm stuff and the policy manual.
Well thats all for now I am gonna get to bed so I can get up early and have time to eat breakfast before we go to the terminal. I'll post tomorrow night with an update on what truck I got and such.

No we are not training at the same time. I have been driving since 2007. She is going to go to a cdl school and get her cdl and I am going to train her here at J&R Schugel. Then we are going to drive team.

That's awesome. I trained my wife, as well.... but we don't team because of the young'uns at home; she has to be there for a bit, so she's relegated to a school bus, atm...
Super awesome they are going to let you train her. A select (and wise) group of companies operate on that M.O. ~ and it seems successful.

I'm really looking fwd to your updates!

Ok so third day over with. Back at the hotel now after eating dinner at KFC. Today we watched a couple videos of the driver camera recording and stuff(I still don't like it but I'll deal with it). Then we qent over the Qualcomm and how they use it. After that we went to lunch.
After lunch we took a 3 page test qhich was just to see what you retained from the orientation(easy). After that we got our trucks. I was hoping for something nice and newer, preferably a kenworth T680. I got a 2014 Freighliner Cascadia with 412,000 miles on it and a tore up interior. It doesnt smell bad at least. But they said I would not be in it long because its about time to get rid of it. I think I got it because everyone else wanted an automatic and I told them I dont care. Theu forgot that I also said I dont care I just want a newer truck. Oh well, I have driven worse, lol. By the way all of their trucks are cummins engines, and a 10 speed or a automatic. All the new trucks they buy are autos.
They asked me if I wanted a power inverter and i told them yes. I checked my truck out to make sure everything was good, then I took the permit book and in cab scanner in so they could update the permits and check the scanner to make sure it works. It took about 20 minutes and went back out to put them back in the truck. By the time I got out there the shop already had my truck in and was installing the power inverter.
After that was all done for everyone we where done for today. Tomorrow we will be bringing our stuff over from the hotel to load up our trucks, talkimg to our dispatchers amd getting loads out of there. I'll do another update tomorrow whe I find out whats going on.
