That trailer maintenance department is miserable. They will certainly make you go out and buy your own trailer!!!!

The best thing to do is limp to a shop and tell them to bill Landstar, assuming you're not too far and the tire isn't too bad. That way it's the shop that has to wait on hold. You don't have to talk to anyone.

Antinomian has it right. I learned you do your best to get to a truck stop, otherwise it's three hours to get a blowout fixed, even if you're near a major city. That's my experience with my company.

4 hours and 50 minutes later, my tire is changed.
Of course I'm in a National Forest and it's can't see your hand in front of your face dark now, and all the creatures with antlers are up and moving around, so I guess the next order of business is to go into Mary's and get something good to eat.

In my opinion Landstar is a complete fail when it comes to tire issues. The wait times are insane and could be better if they cared at all. I am thinking seriously about buying a trailer and that is a part of the reason why. It would be nice to always know what condition the trailer you are going to be under is, and issues can be addressed in a timely manner.

My dirtbag sensor is, err... dirty. I've been pretty lucky, but have had it broken off in me twice this last month(not Landstar).

Someone spilled some black paint on mine, but her true colors are showing here and there, 615K uses 2qts. every 15K. knocking on wood every day.

Well it's about applying what is learned as well.
The one I had go down on post trip, didn't matter, take your time. Next stop was super coup in Arizona, no way I'm chancing that.
Yesterday, oh well, what can ya do. There's plenty of time in the load, so basically just nuisance.

It makes sense that a giant company like Landstar will be less responsive than a smaller outfit. But what are the advantages to leasing to Landstar instead of to a small-to-modest sized independent who only takes 15% although you only work off public boards? Assuming you have your own trailer either way.

It's interesting how freak outs turn into nuisances after the fact ;-)

One thing that was nice about the company I used to run under (pulling their trailers) was I had the cell number of the guy who handled their tire account. Whenever there was an issue, I'd call him at any time of the day or night and he'd answer the phone and authorize me to get it done, no matter where or how.

Sort of like how it is now with me as the company and equipment owner. I just give myself a call and I say, "Git Er Done!" ;-)
