Hiring Is Difficult

Not that much really, clean cut more than a year OTR clean MVR, can speak english, and some common sense! lol

To be real up front, the biggest issue is time away from home, the UP side is we don't do many short hops which means we aren't constantly loading/unloading, the down side is long trips mean long times away from home?

I went to work for a car hauler guy (@20%) and the best pay I got was $2100 for 9 days of work, and we were working 18 hours a day. He thought I should be over the moon with that. Next check was half of that for same amout of time. I asked for 25% mainly because of all the ######## I had to put up with and he balked. Thanks but no thanks. I quit same day.

Usually, places complaing about having hard time finding "good help" are the same ones not wanting to pay jack ####.

If I could find a good paying car hauling gig I would do it in a heart beat. But I'm not doing it for dry van money.

 

I am having the same problem trying to recruit O/O. We pay darn good and don't micromanage. No one seems to want to work anymore....

 

I know many o/o looking for places to lease on to. What’s the name and contact info. I can refer them. They post in my Facebook group all the time for good places to lease on to. Also what lanes.

 

That's the thing. You can make $55k pulling a box. I'm not touching cars for that kind of money. $1400 a week to pull a 4 car OTR is OK I guess. Considering I pull containers out of the ports M-F and usually make around $1300 and go home every night, its a pretty easy job to live with and an easy one to do. None of the car hauling outfit around here were offering anything that much better despite it being a much tougher and trickier job. And car hauling is big business around these parts.
