Is "BSL" a local term? I've NEVER seen it and it doesn't come up on a google search. The rest of it I'm tired of arguing about I've given enough evidence to support my opinion to any open minded person reading this.

I'm aware of breaking strength just never saw "BSL" that's all.
cke Thanks this. -
Minimum breaking strength is listed on most of the chain specification sheets that I have looked at. Same as BSL I assume.

I am seeing sometimes heavy freight has nothing but a steel beam with a hole. I noticed heavy haulers carry anchor shackles to secure to that point.
What size and type should I purchase and what is a good source of supply?G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Not so awesomely great. !
The crane guys were not so happy either.
You can't see it but the counter weight was marked 9.8t
Just one strap over the boom section - nothing physically touching the counter weight.
He made it from CA to AZ with it, so he must drive pretty smooth.cke and Hegemeister Thank this. -
Possibly not. Wildly insufficient securement can hold pretty well for a long time, even with hard stops. Leads lots of people to think there's nothing wrong with what they are doing. Right up until something goes wrong, and often things go really wrong really fast.Feedman Thanks this.

Apparently my sarcasm does not translate well... I think the guy that hauled this load is not super bright or dedicated and I am slightly embarrassed that he would be considered my peer.
Since I also know that he had no PPE at all - not even long sleeves or long pants - even though explicitly listed on the BOL from the brokerage house.
Hopefully my feelings about this are clearer - this is the quality of some of the drivers you share the road with. -
Just to be clear, I wasn't saying there was anything ok with the way that was secured. I see stupid crap like that all the time, and it's amazing how well it will hold up... Right up until the point when you really need to it to hold up. Then it gives up in a spectacular way.
RStewart, cke, kylefitzy and 1 other person Thank this.
