Anyone worked for this company? I see them alot here in Indiana. I think they haul trash. One of there drivers said that he makes $50 a load and pulls about 4 loads a day. Home every night with working every other saturday. Doesnt sound bad to me. Any how i just seen a ad in the paper for them and thought i would check into it a little. Im with a local company now doing out and back stuff. HOme every night and off weekends but im only making .24cpm. Cant pay the bills with that pay.

Well I dont work for KR but I see and am around them everyday at the local Speedway on Rt 30 in Dyer. Personally and, this is just my opinion only and, I may get my head chopped off for saying it. Hauling garbage is the last driving job i would ever recommend. By alot of drivers you are considered the lowest form of driver. I am sorry if I have offended anyone but I have been out here 22 years now and have seen most all of it. These drivers run like idiots down the road cutting you off speeding like madmen all to get ahead of the next garbage wagon at the dump because he is only getting paid by the load. These guys are starting to line up at the fuel pump at 2 am so they can hurry up and get in line at the dump to sit for free for 3 hours until the dump opens in the morning. Then you pray for no rain or snow so you dont have to get pulled up the hill with a Cat so you can get your garbage dumped. Lets not forget about the flat tires either from all the crap you run over in the dump. Yes there is no love between myself and garbage haulers. They race by me, cut me off and tailgate me everyday between 2 and 4 am then again between 1 and 3 pm like clock work. Dont fall into that category of driver, there are much better jobs out there than that. Just remember, how many hours did it take you to make that 50 bucks for one load or 200 for the day. My guess from what I see is it is 14 hours plus. There will be good days and bad.
Do you have tank experience? How many years have you been driving?
I may be able to give you a place to talk to nearby.

Thanks for the reply. Around here they dont seem to drive bad but yeah i know what your saying About them. I dont care what other drivers think of me,,im not one to drive like that and i do whatever i can to help other drivers. I dont like the idea of being paid by loads either though. I have been driving for a little over 3 years now. i dont have tanker endorsment and dont really want to get it. I have a clean record...no tickets of any kind. Most of the time i have drove its been as a scum of the earth container hauler.........so im used to the comments.
The company im at now i have been with for about 2 months. Its a great company that cares about drivers. But at .24cpm it sucks. My dispatcher who has over 3 million safe miles and over 30 years driving exp is a great guy. he has been with them for like 6 months. But he has been trying to get a raise for the drivers. They will give me a one cent raise every 6 months the first year...then one cent every year. So it would take me like 6 years to get normal pay. :smt100 But the drivers they have have been with them for like 10 years. So i know they are a good company..just dont pay. So what companies do you know? And thanks for the help

I worked for this company for about six months. The flat tire story is true, and the waiting in line at the dump; well thats true also. I liked the people I worked for and they really tried to help you however they could, but the hours were long, and we had a disgruntle employee who hated the company and was calling D.O.T. on every little thing we did wrong so we were all always getting pulled over and inspected. I would work for this company again if the pay was better $50 a load is not worth it because you can't get for loads a day, so you end up working 14-16 hours for $150 and that is if your lucky there is enough trash to go around. I would only get two loads on somedays. I gave it my all and decided it was not worth the time I putting in. The people you work for are good people but there are alot of other issues that made it not worth it.

Where are you out of? We are going to be looking for a driver out of Melrose Park, Illinois. I drive for Lapari Foods. I think they start the Chicago drivers at $18.00 per hour. It's a grocery delivery type position. Very hands on very HARD work.

I used to work for this company as GM. The Indy location was one of my first assignments. You would be working for Joe an old Chicago, Italian who with holds checks and will ruin you in any way he can if you cross him. He had KR in hot water a few years back because he was trying to break the union push by harrassing drivers, threatening their jobs. Example is he took drivers that lived in Indy and made them haul out of Bloomington or Vincennse all day. They have several locations throughout the U.S. and not a one of them is ran worth a ####. The hours are long, the work is cut-throat, the GM's ONLY concern is getting the trash hauled and the owners care about even less. The load pay varies on what facility you haul from and you do not have the choice.

They lost a tremendous amount of business when Allied Waste switched haulers and they were looking and I believe still would sell the company if they could. Remember that trash is a seasonal gig but with as poorly as the company is ran plus the economy plus large comapnies like Allied leaving them, you would be better off getting your doubles and triples endorsement and working for ABF or Fed Ex. At least they have staying power and avenuse to resolve issues and concerns.
