I'm going into over the road trucking. I'm seeking advise on cell/data services. I know I'll need when I get out there.
Me? I've been online with computers since before the internet. I have no problem with technology.
Haven't done much with cell phones. Don't get many calls. I got better things to do when I leave home, than to play with a smart phone.
With things changing. I use a ton of data at home. Don't have any idea how much I'll use out there?
Have had a tracphone. I'm happy with it. They have an older model iPhone that they call an SE 32GB? It's not much money. They say it's iOS 11. ?
Tracphone service coverage ok out there? I"m open to other. Have to admit, tracphones customer service is disfuctional at best.
I'm very comfortable with Apple's format. Moreso than Android. I do like Android. Got a netpad Samsung. I think it's a 7? Was just before the ones that blew up. Really don't use it much. Probably due to slowness.
I'm open to a Samsung. More comfortable with Apple.
I will not get involved with ms or Verizon. Long stories. Just say no.

I'd appreciate thought and advise from experience. I did post this in a thread outside of this sub forum.

Verizon unlimited. Best so far, high speeds most places, if you have a hotspot capable phone it's pretty much the tits.

I got a samsung galaxy 7, unlimited everything for $153 a month from Verizon, includes jet pack internet box for laptop internet access, also includes monthly phone payment. Has pretty good nationwide coverage.

Companies (supervisors, dispatchers, payroll) judge drivers based on how well the driver communicates, so if the guys you are competing against have better communication platforms than you, it will affect your pay in a negative way. I learned that lesson the hard way. I was used to doing everything on the Quallcom and then I hired on with a company that is phone intensive and it was a big adjustment.

To be honest. I haven't had any worse coverage with my tracfone, than I did with my Verizon phone. ???
tracfone has one of those samsung galaxy 7's. Geesh.... $650 straight buy price. Worth it? Could do monthly payments. I have the credit.

It appears I have to make sure I get a job with a company that is Qualcomm intensive.

I have 2 phones. An galaxy s7 with Sprint that I paid cash for. I have unlimited with it and use it for entertainment and such and it was my personal phone before coming back otr.
Coverage is good except nevada, Wyoming, and the top 5 states starting from Washington and states with alot of mountains. It's 60 a month.
I bought a Verizon pay as you go phone for 90 And then $50 a month for 5 gigs of data. I use this for business. Verizon has always been weird about how their data accrues. I'm on my sprint phone with Google maps alot more than the Verizon phone and somehow the Verizon almost religiously pulls more data on the app, but whatever.

So I spend maybe $110 and I'm fully covered with no contracts

Are you asking a question or just putting question marks at the end of your sentences?Anyway I use straight talk they have all kinds of plans as well as towers and much cheaper then sprint verizon and no contract.I pay $45.00 a month for the internet.Otherwise if you only want the phone service its like $30.00 a month. They also have 3 month cards. But only one that sells straightalk is Walmart but you can always pay online or call before your service ends.

Verizon accrues more data no matter what app you use.

When i first went back OTR. i had sprint and was only using 2 gigs. I switched to verizon and 2 gigs only lasted 3 months before i started going over. Had to double to 4 gigs. Then 8 Then 16.

I'm back with sprint and using less then 3 gigs. Now i have an ATT car connect hotspot as it has a bigger footprint then verizon or sprint. I"m still using less then 3 gigs between the 2. For the same amount of useage I was doing with verizon at 16 gigs. My car connect goes to work with me and travels on the truck because of the bigger footprint. I can listen to my local radio station through the iheart app. Couldn't do that with verizon or sprint.

I just bought a chev car. It also has built in ATT hotspot. So now I've got 2 ATT hotspots and 1 sprint phone. I don't listen to iheart much but my useage has gone up to 4 gigs now. May go higher since my car is also android auto capable. I can use my phone gps and what not through the radio now. Instead of just bluetooth music and phone calls.
