My Experience With KLLM

stay away, stay away, stay away, if you go to work with them thats what youll do is stay away, my buddy worked with them and he said his main job was to go out and get trucks people had left because they jacked em around

 

Well I can't say, because I haven't worked for them yet, but I know several people who do, including two very close friends. Neither of them has ever heard of this. Granted all trucking companies can have problems, but KLLM has had much less turnover than most others. I've done my research on line and at the truck stops with KLLM drivers, and most are very satisfied with the company. There will always be complainers and whinners who can't work anywhere, but that is not the companies problem.

 

So I'm a newbie in school a couple weeks, near Fort Worth, Texas. I managed to get a grant from the unemployment office to go, and unless I want to be jabbed for repaying the grant, I have to go work for one of the companies on their list. KLLM is one of the choices and after digging through the related threads here, I like what I see. One of my other choices is USA Truck (where I have a prehire), and I'm not so impressed there.

I'll be graduating at Thanksgiving with a Class A, with tanker, doubles and triples, and a valid HM. (I currently have a Class C CDL with HM, and the HM doesn't expire until mid-February 2009; I just passed the written for HM, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get a renewal background check done before then.)

A few questions, though:

- The website still lists the maintenance terminal in Seagoville. I've seen mentions that it's closed; as Seagoville is less than 60 miles from my house, just a zip down I-20, this is obviously frustrating. So ... is it actually closed?

- If the Seagoville terminal is closed, where do I put the truck when at home? I can not park it at the house.

- Will there be a place wherever I put the truck to park my four-wheeler? Or do I need to arrange a ride to the yard so I don't leave the four-wheeler out in the wilderness?

- What is the passenger policy? Specifically, are non-family adults permitted? How young is permitted?

Good luck, you should be in a good area. My husband goes through the DFW area a lot with them.

 

just finished school on Fri with my Class A, tanker, doubles and triples, and a valid HM. talked to a recruiter on tuesday. She got me into oreintation for the following tuesday. took her 2 days to get me cleared. Have pre-hire from werner and swift and its almost 2 wks they have been waiting on that same info?? WTF?? Im glad i chose KLLM. They seem ok and so far honest. I will be going to Fontana terminal. Anybody been trained there?? Will it be hard to stay on west coast after I have proven myself?? Thanks for any input you can give me.

 

Don't expect much time on the west coast. The west coast is mostly handled out of the Fontana terminal with the Western Regional division. You have to have 6 months in before you can switch to that terminal. Generally, my husband only gets to the west coast when he comes home.

 

thanks for the info. i figured 6 months to switch. im only 45min from the fontana terminal so that would be nice. so ure hubby likes kllm??

Yes. He has been with them for about a year and a half. He is pretty happy with them, especially when he hears the horror stories from other drivers with other companies. Overall, they have treated him well. He always gets home on time or early, except when his truck broke down once right at his hometime. Then they worked with him as to when he wanted to reschedule his hometime once he got his new truck. He has been sitting more lately, but still has pretty decent weeks.

 

If you want to stay on the West Coast and drive for a good company, take a look at May. They have 11 western and you being in Fontana, you will be driving the I-5 corridor a lot.
