Does Landstar have standards for the appearance of BCO-owned trailers? Frowning on things such as rusty rims, rusty ICC bar, other company names on side of trailer, etc.

Landstar standards, how about owner having a little pride in their equipment.

They don't look at your equipment, it just has to pass a DOT inspection.

It has to pass For inspection. You should remove other companies name from trailer and truck as LS will be giving you decals to put on If you get in.

They give you trailer decals? Are they big? What's involved with putting them on?

A landstar driver I know told me he picked up a trailer a few days ago with a flat tire. Apparently it was loaded that way then driven out to a lot for him to deal with.

Landstar told him to try to drive it around the lot and see if it'll self inflate instead of actually repair it.

Sounds like they aren't particular about their equipment.

Someone in another thread suggested they have an age standard. I thought I asked about that here but apparently not till now. How young do they want the trailer to be?

As far as I know no age limit , it just has to pass a 120 day landstar inspection

Also you don't have to put landstar decals on trailer

When I was with LS I picked up a drop trailer at a customer in nowhere,Co. Miles from any tire shop. Had a flat and the bead wasn't set on the rim. Trailer had the tire inflation system(as most LS trailers do). I called trailer maint and the guy told me to drive a couple miles at @ 20-25 mph and then check it. When I stopped it was fully inflated and I ran until I stopped for the night and got the tire repaired then. After that I did the same thing a few times when trailers had flats
