I'm about to leave this company due to pay, and inconsistent home time and among other things. I run LTL, but how can I quit without making sure they put nothing bad on my DAC? I can't do two weeks cause I'm not making ####, and I'm hired at 3 other local places now. Should I decline loads, take a leave of absence for emergency reasons, Idk I just don't want anything bad like abandonment of truck or quit while on a load on my DAC.

People quit all the time companies know this industry, they'll be looking at your overall record like your MVR any preventables that sort of thing.Far as abandoning load, don't do it quit while youre not dispatched a load.

Tell them you are quitting and where do they want the truck turned in.
Send the message on Qualcom or however you communicate; this way there's a record of you asking where they want the truck turned in.
Take a picture of the Qualcom message.

    Alhb54 Thanks this.

Just tell them you are quitting and give them a date of your last day of employment.

I was not under load, drove into the yard. Parked the truck. Send a msg on the QC I quit. Company put nothing on DAC....

    Alhb54 and pattyj Thank this.

I agree.. and pictures of the truck where it is parked.

Take overall pictures of the entire outside of truck. So, they cannot put a dent back on you.

You pretty much answered your own problem.

Don't quit under a load or abandon your truck.

You cannot control who writes into your DAC. But remember there are other data forms following you, such as the PSP which can be had for 10 dollars online etc. Some companies if they hate you will carefully blacklist you. I have one in Indiana who did that. They are allowed under Indiana law to verbally tell anyone I apply to that I am black listed in the midwest on the phone but are not allowed to legally have that in writing which will become a multi million golden ticket for me in the indiana courthouse. That is one of my specific situations which I can share to explain to you the dark side of a driver who does not get along with a company and what they can or cannot do to you. I do check my records with all of the employers who I applied with ever... so that if I catch that particular employer telling them that in WRITING, Im going to Indiana and will never have to work again. If the award is big enough I might be in the trucking business as a new owner....

DAC's are something that has become watered down over the years. So that there is a greater amount of bodies who are allowed to be driving in this industry that has started to bring in immigrants to work to keep the trucks rolling. Certain offenses you committed results in a life time ban on DAC years ago but now only has a 5 year ban or less to hire, basically you will not be hireable or touch a big truck for months to years. Find something else to do.

I had that happen to me one time resulting in a 3 year seperation from using 18 wheelers, I worked around it by going to a paving outfit with a dump truck and a beaver trailer with paver etc. every day for that time period. It also kept gaps from appearing in my employment which generates questions that pointed to that particular DAC. I never really stopped working, just find a trucking company small enough with one or three trucks who does not give a #### about the fancy DAC's they have work to do today. Shrugs.
