Yes, you are correct on the final offer part. My deal was a little different because I did the interview, road test and physical on September 6th, but they never had me do a drug test that day. Then 8 days later they called me and said they forgot to put the paperwork in for me to do a drug test on the 6th and I need to go and do one ASAP. So I did a drug test on the 15th, and by the 27th they called me back and said the lab in Missouri apparently lost mine test and I need to do another one. So I did another on the 28th in the morning and by the end of the day Friday the 29th they called me with the final job offer. So technically it took over 3 weeks from the road test to the final offer, but really it should be less than that. The big thing is to make sure your previous employer signed and faxed back the paperwork and they didn’t put it on the bottom of a pile of papers because they don’t care.

To all those considering.. As a 3 year Walmart driver I can tell you alot of what you hear is Hype. Its a job like any other , was good paying but gone are the $100k a year stories you heard. You new guys will bust your behinds for a long time to make probably 75-80 k maybe. We've been told they're bringing back the Flex driver program. If you're just getting on this means you fellas. The Flex status position only guarantees you 2 weeks full of work every month. Until you get a program or own truck . Etc. if they have more work , then you could even be used all month. But if work slows , you sit another week. Sounds like Bull to me. When i started i was brought on as a full time Extra Board driver. Slip seating , but I at least was guaranteed 5 days of work. Every week. I wouldn't join this sinking ship. They will stress you like no other job. All their expectations and ever changing rules. For .38 cpm. They will continue to cut their pay structure. They have pretty much told us , we make too much money. After these changes take effect, & drivers adjust.. How long until they come back and take more pay away? I believe they'll try to end the $42 layover pay next. All you wishful drivers, i wish you luck. But coming from a driver looking for another job currently. I'd say find yourself a local job , Freight, Fuel whatever. Home daily making 60-75 k a year . Unless you just need a job for the time being. I don't see this as a job you can retire from anymore. My .02. Take it how you feel. Just being honest.

To clarify, the new pay scale applies to anyone who APPLIES to Walmart ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 1ST 2017! So even if you're STARTING next month, or even if you haven't even been called yet, you'll be under the CURRENT pay structure! Hope that clears up the rumors and BS.

Thanks for the correction. You new guys will still be on a flex program as I mentioned above. Let's see how many Walmart drivers are still happy come May next year. I predict sour grapes . Hopefully I'm long gone by then. Itd be nice if drivers got together and shut it down for a week in protest. Heck, the blacks are doing every day. The problem is theres too many Walmart kiss a$&!s to get together and put up some type of fight. What Im seeing& hearing at ground level .... is the following..

" well , we just gotta go with the flow"

" well, nothing changes for me"

"Well, they're gonna do what they want any ways "

" this is still a good job!"

Its still a good job until they get away with taking away your perks. Once they start and you just sit there mouth closed and take it, they'll come back to take more away , until its no longer a good job. Its then just a job.

I hear the sour grapes already from you. You're not happy, I get it, I'm not exactly overjoyed. But for every one bad thing that happens to OUR job, three bad things happen to every other job, so you may resent hearing it, but it's fact, this IS still, and will continue to be, one of the BEST jobs in this industry. I wish you well in your next job, do come back and tell us what we're missing, but I think you're sadly mistaken if you think Walmart is the only company cutting costs, everyone else is too, and THEY are taking pay and benefits, not just 'perks' that were inefficient, holding loads for FLW's and set runs while drivers sat on 'wait time.' I'm honestly glad to see these 'perks' go away, now I'll get a really good store now and then now that we're all equal. Anyone who thinks the grass is any greener is going to regret leaving, unless you're getting out of the industry altogether. And that's MY .02¢ worth.

I respect you see the glass half full still. Do you think it's going to get better after these changes when they just told us Swift is doing so much better at out DC, that not only will they get all the refrigerated loads they're also awarding them All of the dry grocery Freight sometime next year. How long before they bring in Swift to "help out " with GM loads. The grass isn't always greener, I'm willing to take a pay cut. 65-70k a year . But I'll be home every day, sleep at home , shower at home, . Weekends off. Retail related jobs , like us are making cuts. Freight, Fuel Delivery. Food delivery. They're still getting cost of living raises. More than likely less work next year, with Cameras and audio . Less money, more stress. Itll still be a good job compared to working at CRST or Transport America next year. I'll give you that Driver. I'm not the only that see's what's coming. I guess if you shove your head in the sand, and stay oblivious to what's happening. Itll be A O. K....

I hear what you're saying, and my head is certainly not in the sand, but the fact is that every company is changing. Look at K-mart, they didn't change and they're paying the price. I'll stay unless they start taking pay and/or benefits, then, like you said, I'll get a home every day Mon-Fri job like I left, though for the foreseeable future, I don't anticipate making a move. No big deal ether way, there's not a company out there that wouldn't kill to have a Walmart driver hire on with them. I live near many great companies hubs, like UPS, FedEx, USF, and a major grocery private fleet in NY/PA. I'm not worried, if I become unhappy, I'll go, but right now, I'm not unhappy. This is actually an enjoyable job, pays great, and is easy as can be. Being prepared is good, I'm prepared. But worrying about things I can't control isn't in my DNA, and nobody yet knows what it'll be like here next week or next year. I'll make up my mind when and if the time comes where I can not tolerate the changes.

We still have work to keep us busy. Could have been worse, they could have layed you off driver. 3 years and you are already to jump ship, wow. Have fun and God speed driver. Chewey, I am not going to express my opinion on the meeting.
