Walmart is still a ok job nothing to brag about anymore. I see more stuff coming down the pipe in a few years. Save your money and pay stuff off and if your starting here don’t live above a $50grand job

I really doubt you'd feel the same if that was your hard earned 3 million mile truck. Alot of these guys are on LOA. Because they're older guys with legitimate health problems. Driving is very taxing. I honestly think Walmart is tired of paying the LOA, so time to make them older drivers leave on their own. Walmart Saves Money , Driver gets stiffed.

Every job I've worked before this one I had an actual assigned truck which is rare here for you new guys. On my days off, it was used when needed. Came in, cleaned up some crumbs or dust off the floor and back out on the road again no problems. And like I said, Walmart has stated it'd be a last resort.

No other company I know of would buy a new Peterbilt and let it be a parking lot ornament.

I think you have a point. Why pay for them and not use them. Could be another part of phase 2.

I think it has more to do with why Swift and Fedex had them, and now removed them. Sounds like a huge investment that backfired

What upsets me the most is the new hire rate. What makes any of us better, that we deserve $.08/mile more than these new guys? In my almost a year here, I've heard a lifetime's worth of equality, fairness, integrity, and so on. There could be a new recruit, just like me a yr ago, who's got a career of being safe and professional, and now this same guy is worth $.08/mile less. I get a lot of their money saving changes, I get it. Everything changes. But I think when it comes to saving money here, this move shows ethics take a back seat. All we hear is equal work for equal pay. Driving can be very hazardous at times, we all have seen and experienced this, but now the guy driving in some of these same dangerous, and potentially life threatening situations, has to do it for less money? THIS IS WRONG! If we need to "tighten up the belt", it should be as a group. Divide and conquer I guess. This is setting up a "class" system. That was my complaint to my gtm yesterday. He said a few others had the same complaint. I wish everybody did. We gotta look out for each other, guys. What's right, is right.
At $.08/mile, any new guy who gets his 3 million miles in, will have done it for $240,000 cheaper I guess. Looks like they could buy him 2 new trucks. Just a way of getting us to buy our own blue truck maybe.

So basically we should have all taken a pay cut ? I don't agree with that. Why even cut pay in first place. They could have just started by changing the set run policy, done away with lazy programs and they're productivity would have gone up. These Execs came out swinging. I heard that Greg Smith the guy in charge of Transportation at Walmart ... Any of the other companies that he's worked for , has gotten rid of Private Fleets.

Don't worry Walmart will make it equal. I really believe we better paid drivers will start getting shorter miles and sitting more. It'll get more noticeable when more of the new lesser paid drivers get hired on . In the end we will probably make just as much as them . Just working less for it. Kinda like J.B Hunt does it.

That's more to my point. No pay cut, there's plenty of fat to trim in so many places 1st. I think the other changes will save a huge amount, without drivers making less money than the guy next to him. You'd thought maybe they'd give these program changes a chance to run through a yr to see the effect, before also changing the starting wage. My short mileage days usually exceed my high mile days in pay, granted I earn it, but I'm more concerned with just being kept busy, and I think flw going away was a good thing. I'm here to trade my time for money, but feel my brother to the left or right of me should earn the same, and let the ones who work more, make more.

Good luck in your new comedy career cause you just made me laugh. Such a shame that assume all that about me and you know nothing about me. Here is the difference: you see my picture, you know my name and you know what DC I run out of. I'm not hiding anything. I have some disappointments but they aren't worth the time and energy to express them here. I don't know you and frankly I don't care too. Your not happy and that's fine. Just be sure to call Bentonville and tell them that you aren't happy with change and plan to leave. Being a keyboard warrior here does nothing anyway. Your words can't hurt anyone here who is still content with this company. How about this, you start your own business, build it up, give all your driver's these money wasting perks and see how long you last. I have jumped ships before when things looked to go south and found that after I left, they got better in some cases. As the for the camera here is a FYI for you. If the lawyers really wanted to argue distracted driving, Everytime you look in your mirror, check you navigational device or check a gauge on your dash, you are distracted because your eyes are not on the road. I'm done with you. I'm done with this thread. Y'all take care, stay safe.
