I've driven alot of 18s and they were al the same.

I'd have to go back to the chart to answer correctly, but there are torque ratings from something like 1450 through 2250. Some are overdrive @ .86; some are .86 and .73. Then you have RTLO, RTO, RTOF, and maybe RTX. They all shift the same as far as I am aware though.
SAR Thanks this. -
Are there single overdrive 18speeds available or they only come bouble overdrive

Really very little difference at all in the 18 speeds, other than torque rating.
One thing to be aware of, is that some have an oil filter. Usually they're only seen on the higher torque capacity models, like 2,050.Oxbow Thanks this. -
I’ve had a few. All the same gearing, but the worst one had an air cooled transmission radiator mounted right above the transmission. It didn’t get enough air flow in there to keep it cool at low speed when I was climbing mountain grades. The transmission temperatures exceeded 300 degrees when climbing from Phoenix to Flagstaff and it was 104 degrees outside. Or pulling super b’s in the Canadian Rockies in the winter time at 140,000 lbs.
All the other ones I had were cooled out front of the main radiator. No temperature problems with them. -
Which reminds me... Tomorrow I should make sure the fins are straight, and ensure no debris is clogging it.
Oh, the joys of owning... Even on a long weekend, there's still things to muck around with.OLDSKOOLERnWV and Oxbow Thank this.
