I know you have to pay FET. I'm just wondering, I'm not going to buy a new or used truck any time soon. I don't think Jersey charges a sales tax.
Are there states where you don't pay state sales tax on buying a truck?

In most states a truck is tax exempt if it is used for interstate commerce.

Yeah Oregon has no sales tax, Az. no sales tax on used VIA private party.
77fib77 Thanks this. -
Oregon has no sales tax if you are a resident. If you live here in Washington and buy a car new or used across the border you still have to pay sales tax. probably the same elsewhere I would imagine.

Most states you pay when you title it, not when you buy, but California wants their tax unless you have it delivered out of state.
Check with your home state. -

Where I live in Spokane, Wa. the sales tax is 8.7%. If I bought a commercial truck in Wa would I have to pay sales tax? That would be a huge chunk of change. If so would it be possible to form an LLC in a different state and buy it using that name? I have relatives in Arizona.

I'm from North of the border, so I can only speak of how things work in this Province, but when I bought my truck, I had to pay the sales tax.
However, my business got that tax payment refunded at tax time. In fact, anything I buy that's business related, the sales tax I pay gets refunded to me (moreso the business) at tax time.csmith1281 and 77fib77 Thank this.
