Hey, steveh... if I were you I would just go to the W/S school that way you learn everything from the same people you are working for which will make things go smoother. I went to the 30 day class last Jan. it was cold, but well worth it to get the mountain snow experience.

At W/S do you get more miles depending on what part of the country you live in, or is it other factors? I live near Detroit, MI.
Wingrider, thanks for the tip. I'm looking seriously at W/S 30 day school for Jan. 5th. BTW, I used to live in Portland and my wife and I still have alot of family there. Beautiful place in the Pacific N.W. -

Kind of makes me wonder how big they will get, when the recovery comes -
Who are they buying?

Hello all, been reading this thread for a couple weeks when I put in my app with W/S , finally herd back from them today with a start day for my 10 day orientation of dec 3rd.
Is anyone else on this board scheduled for that?
Also for you peeps that have gone through this training in the winter, is the snow/ice training really good?
That is my wifes major concern about me taking a otr job in the winter as I have no experiance with tractor trailers driving on ice.I do have experiance driving double tomato trailers last month when it was raining, I had one hair raising experiance
stopping with empty trailers when another tomato truck decided to run his stop sign in front of me. -
heystevh, it doesnt really matter where you live, if you will be an OTR then you are apt to run anywhere thus, get more miles, if you are a regional driver then you basically limit your miles.
mopar, the winter training is great, if you are here when the roads are snowy, then you will definately get some good training, both loaded heavy and pulling empty trailers.heysteveh Thanks this. -
They bought trailers and accounts only. No power. That's where you are seeing the recent arrival of reefers from...that trailer pool.
The accounts are beer and wine accounts.
It is my understanding, the company whatever the name, was nearly as big as us.
Sorry I can't be more specific. I was told the name...I just can't remember it. It's been almost 2 months since I was told. -
So I assume they take you away from missoula into the nearby mountains? That would be great to have an expierianced driver in those road conditions.
I guess we dont make any money in those conditions when we are on our own being that we have to move really slow I am assuming.
