I love the what if I am 50 miles from home excuse. You know, I was otr for two years. I only ran out of time getting home once. That was cause Budwiser screwed up the load and I hate to wait an extra 8 hours for them to fix. I was in Columbus,OH at the time. Home was my terminal in near Dayton, OH. I had 2 hours left. It is about 2 hour trip. Hit traffic. Got stuck on the road at a Walmart for the night. Called dispatch extended my time off one extra day, got detention pay for the 8 hours and a nice roasted chicked from Walmart.
And before you all say well with paper you woulda been able to make it....nope. I ran completely legal on paper. Never cheated once.
And I made more on elogs with the same company. Ran both paper and elogs for that company.peterd Thanks this. -
Not everyone runs beer from Columbus to Dayton
Or wants to run beer loads anywhere
That's got to be the cheapest freight going
But it sure is a no brainer load , in fact you'll be the first driver replaced by Otto .
Then how will you like this brave new worldsnowwy Thanks this. -
He will just come over to another segment of trucking, be it hauling reefer, securing flatbed loads, and then see what we are griping about. Then maybe he will begin to understand. I have my doubts. Probably keep putting dispatch or the customer "in their place" by explaining why their load is behind schedule while he is playing to the letter of the law.

He's only been driving 2 years. Which means he's never learned to drive without a leash. He's obviously the perfect driver who doesn't care what the end of the day brings him. Or how much money he COULD be making. Guess he likes being broke.

Yea probably figures he is raking it in at 60 grand a year

Those arent the only loads I ran. Made a killing working hauling Amazon loads. Play cards right and they will pay well.
Also, I said I did otr for 2 years. Been driving 4 now. And no. I am not on the road anymore. Im a yard dog now. Off weekends, if I want. Usually I end up working ot on the weekends. Feom Sept to Dec last year I worked 212 hours of overtime and I am on pace to hit that again this year. With ot company only allows me to work no more than 60 total hours a week. 12 to 14 hours offer per shift. No more than 12 hours in a day. Company uniforms. Great medical benefits, 401k wifh match of 6 percent. 3 weeks vaca a year and that was from day one. Working 3rds with no traffic. Clear a grand to 1200 a week.
Btw, all this started because you all got butt hurt that I said I like elogs. -
A bit less, but close. Good guess though.W9onTime Thanks this.

That was with new truck depreciation and every deduction I could get .
I don't want to know what that 80k would be in today's dollars
Things have sure changed -
