i drove for a SLOW company!! the thing is, if you let off for 10 #### seconds at the most to let me pass it cost you LITTLE time.
but if I had to go 2 MPH slower over a 10 hour day that would cost me 20 miles, which on a log (legally) would cost me 1/2 an hour. 1/2 an hour over 10 seconds? HMMM.
now i agree, it takes some common sense, if traffic is stacking up, just let off, and jump back in till you have abetter chance.

Actually it's stay on the porch . Problem is the big dogs are being neutered.
The large car may soon be extinct . Difference betwwen a big truck and a large car ? In a big truck you go as fast as you can . In a large car you go as fast as you want to .

I don't like to lift. You have to realize, it doesn't take much to do it one time for you. But it not just you. There are thousands of drivers out there. I'd be lifting and resetting my cruise all day or night. Doing it for each of the 20 drivers that pass me each hour becomes a secondary unpaid job.

My current rig is governed but not weak (relatively). I laugh every time I hit the hills because I pass by many, many drivers who blew by me on flat ground. Sometimes by so much that it is 30 to 45 minutes before they can pass me again on the flats. I get few thrills but that is one I enjoy.:yes2557:

If your vehicle is governed at 62/61 why is is so important to pass someone going one or two MPH less? Are you in that much of a hurry that you expect the other truck to slow down simply for your benefit? Why should that other driver screw around with his fuel mileage per gallon just for you? You have no business attempting to pass unless you have about 7 miles of clear roadway in front and behind so as not to impede other traffic at 1 or 2 MPH over the other vehicle. Maybe you should begin thinking about driving in a safe and courteous manner instead of just thinking about ME (as in you)!

Besides, assuming level ground with absolutely no hills and if you passed the other vehicle at the very beginning of your driving shift you can only mathematically go 22 miles further in 11 driving hours. And that's only mathematically! In the real world you will only gain 6, or maybe 8 miles further than the other driver in 11-hours assuming you passed the other vehicle at the very beginning of your driving. Or are you just in a hurry to get to the next truck stop to have breakfast?

You're supposed to be a professional. Why not start acting like one instead of posting B.S. as you have done here?

I'm governed pretty slow too and get passed a lot. If someone's going by my at 1 mile an hour faster I always ease up a bit. The less time someone is beside me the better as far as I'm concerned. Even if they're going a few miles an hour faster I usually let up a bit since they always want to pull back in when only 20 or 30 feet ahead which is too close for me.

As for passing someone else I'll only worry about it if they're slowing me down a few miles an hour or more, otherwise it's not worth it. I've never been behind anyone for long enough to make a real difference in my progress anyway. Sure, 2 mph for ten hours may be 20 miles but long before that ten hours is up one of you will pull off.
