Finding out that there are a lot of 'blind areas', no cell phone reception thus no data/internet. each truck stop wants you to buy their access but it can mount to alot ... so what do you all use for internet access besides your cell phone carrier? is there 1 company with wide available wifi spots (like gogoinflight or kebo at airports all over)?

You said no cell service. Sorry to say I've used verizon for years. It's expensive but reliable.

I use the hotspot from my phone for wifi access to my laptop.

For OTR,.. there are really only 2 options. The first and best service option is Verizon. The 2nd would be ATT.

Those are the only 2 carriers large enough to accommodate an OTR driver with a service large enough to provide service where others cant.

Verizon has a service area of about 1/4 larger than ATT. Both offer unlimited data service,.. and both have limitations that come with it.

I've been using Verizon unlimited since they first started offering it. I've had a few issues in urban areas. But everywhere else has been pretty flawless and no different than when I was paying for tiered service.

Verizon isnt cheap. I have no idea what ATT rates are. But for what you get I think its reasonable.

Shop around and compare. Sprint and T-mobile can not compare to the coverage of either Verizon or ATT. The only reason to use Sprint or Tmobile would be if you are strictly regional or operate locally where they have good coverage. Then it would make sense. Other wise,.. get used to being in dead areas.

I have ATT. 2 iphones (1 for wife) and a tablet for YouTube during down time. “Unlimited” data for all 3 devices is less than $200. Including paying installment on 1 of the phones. Unlimited gets reduced after 22 gigs on each device. So essentially 66 gigs available before anything is reduced. Cell service is 80% perfect in 48 states. I’m happy with ATT.

I use TMO here. Cell service is pretty good everywhere except the rare dead spot. LTE speeds every except a few dead spots on the 40 in NM, Wyoming is dead almost completely, coverage is spotty on the 54 between Dalhart TX and Tucumari NM, spotty on the 5 an hour or so north of the grapevine for 100 miles or os. No real other problems. I abuse the datacaps pretty hard... about 150gigs a month, and they dont start throttleing till ~30 gig.

we got TMO but there are lot of dead spots specially outside of 'civilization' and its frustrating not to be able to communicate or watch anything while at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere.... not looking to have to switch to verizon or worse to att ... i was more so asking for paid hotspots services, i seen some people have directv for tv and internet but i am hesitant to satellite internet service plus i dont need tv stuff
