So what happens to all those glider trucks then?
-
I dunno. The ones already on the road and the ones currently being built/sold Are probably grandfathered in?
Then nothing will be mass-produced after the beginning of next year.
These are assumptions on my part as to what he was saying. He does tend to ramble on a bit...x1Heavy and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

Company I drive for just bought me a new 2018 Freightshaker, got it June of this year, and it's been in the shop 5 times due to this awesome DPF system, ####ing hate whats come of trucking, thinking of getting out of driving all together!
x1Heavy, shogun and Getsinyourblood Thank this. -
You're right, after 2021. From 2018 until then, there is an exemption, but that is completely gone by 2021.x1Heavy Thanks this.

The rule is not retroactive, existing glider builds can keep operating; you just won't be able to buy a new glider creation from a company that specializes in that work.
If you order and buy the glider yourself then hire someone to install the engine you want you end up with the same thing, that is probably what will start occurring until they abolish glider sales in 2021.
I kept my 2000 379 Pete just for this reason, I can rebuild it from front to back including paint for about $60,000 dollars; less than half the cost of a new truck and superior in every way.
I do all my own work except for paint so most could not get by that cheap but I would still advise everyone to look for an older truck to keep as a candidate for restoration.
The stricter the standards the worse the economy and reliability will get, there is no sign of let up on the B.S. Regulation front.rabbiporkchop, x1Heavy, HopeOverMope and 3 others Thank this. -
That's cause Freightliner doesn’t know how to work on it. Freightliner has to be the worst place to get work done.x1Heavy and daf105paccar Thank this.

A lot off driver blame the "new" trucks for certain problems when it is the mechanics and dealerships who are the real problem.
Most do not know what the hell they are doing.x1Heavy, Justrucking2 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I'd have to say there are quite a few truck designers that don't what the hell they're doing either.
rabbiporkchop, x1Heavy, poppapump1332 and 1 other person Thank this.
