No, I start in 10/2, but I am a vet and I have other civilian federal service. I have done a bunch of reading on USPS hiring on their website. It is all there for the reading. Knowing the rules, what they can and can not do, and what you can and can not do is important tonstaying out of trouble.

The transportation manager that interviewed me said that as long as you come to work, don't have an accident or get a ticket, the first 90 days (probation) is no big deal. Btw, all other federal service has a 1 year probationary period. This should be no big deal.

I was told that it is only a 4 hour guarantee on scheduled days, but that rarely occurs. That you get 8 or more. I was told there is lots of OT to be had.

I retired in 1995, been retired all most as long as I was in! Still have some friends from those days. No, I work for a regional company in SoCal.

How was the road test? I heard all the trucks are automatics. Is that true? So do you think this position is a good oppurtunity to take advantage of?

Frim statt to finish, how long do you think it took you to get hired on? Also, I think you are going in at a good time. This is holiday season. I am sure you will get 40+ plus hours. No biggie. IMHO.

My road test consisted of backing only. Did a straight line back, then and off side right and a off side left back. I then backed into 3 differnt dock doors. That was it. I was told that all of their trucks air Allison automatics and that they only have Mack's.

As far as it beinga "good" opportunity, I say no. It is an excellent opportunity. I wish I had found out about it sooner.

About a month start to finish. The job was announced for a week, I applied on day 3. I was called for an interview 2 days after it closed. I went to the interview 2 days later. A week went by, I got tentative job offer. Took employment drug test the next day. Took DOT drug test last Friday and got final job offer yesterday and start next Monday.

I also applied for 2 other locations at the sane time and they both called 2 days after my interview and I told then I was no longer interested.
