I haven't had crooked experiences at ta/petro , but I've heard some have , but that's just hearsay .
But I have had incompetent experiences, truck stops don't have the quality of mechanics that a good shop will.
I had a ta inspector tell me my fifth wheel mount had to much play in it , after tearing into it and destroying the large rubber shock bushing , that he didn't realize was the reason for the play.
It took all day and a big bill to replace a part that was fine . I didn't fight it but should have , they cut me a break on labor

That wasn't by any chance the TA in Commerce, GA was it? Because almost the same thing happened to me. He was going to fail it, but I talked him out of it. I've never had any other shop even check my fifth wheel for play. That guy was thorough. To be fair, my fifth wheel was in bad shape. There was quite a bit of slack in the pivots and it was right at the legal limit for up and down travel. I told the guy I'd replace it and shortly after that I did.csmith1281 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
No but I don't remember where, it's been quite awhile , I did have one done in commerce the older guy was thorough but fair . I've found a good shop near me that's very fair and he's my go to guy for repairs and inspections for a couple years now
csmith1281 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I've also had good work done at the TA in Reno. And two different longtime BCO's have told me the TA's in Kingman and Barstow are good.

I never go to Texas, but I'm taking a load to Dallas so I can attend whatever mandatory class they have.
I'm at the Petro in El Paso, and some dude didn't lock his tandems in place, and they are laying on the ground about 10 feet behind his trailer, and he did it turning onto the on ramp somehow.
Two wreckers, and about a dozen sheriffs. Didn't see any DPS.tucker Thanks this. -

How many miles per year do you run? It just hard believe because I never come close to that kinda of money and I was driving 124,000 miles a year. Unless you getting $2+ per mile off the load board

You are so lucky, I never seen anything like in my travels.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.
