You do realize those are completely incomparable. If you wanna run illegal, you'll have no choice but to deal with illegal running companies. That goes for the full package of non-dot legal trucks, breaking hos, not paying, because why? Not the like "driver" has any recourse...
As others have implied, get with the program or get out of the field before you manage to kill someone.Tb0n3, nightgunner, nax and 4 others Thank this. -
Such companies exist. But looking on Craigslist, and asking on here won't help you much, as you've seen.
Local newspapers, word of mouth. Good small companies don't advertise a need for drivers. So you have to find them. And if you do find one, it may take some time to actually get their attention, as there is probably ten other people ahead of you. That's why it's important to keep your record spotless, and present yourself in a professional manner if you do meet with the company. You can't go to a good small company with a bad record and looking like a slob, and expect to not be laughed out the door.
At least that's what I've seen and experienced. I work for a 18 truck operation. They have never placed an ad looking for drivers, in 30 years of being in business. There is currently 10 drivers who are waiting for the phone call to work here. We run nice equipment, and the pay is above average. We're not making UPS type money, but we do well. We have no need to run outlaw, and the other drivers don't take kindly to those who do. I waited a year from my first meeting with the owner before I ever got behind the wheel of one of our trucks. The owner is very involved, and I speak to him daily. But the drivers around here police themselves. We don't get 'written up' for screwing up, we get fired.
So if a GOOD small company is what you think you want, you better be above average talent.ladr, Logan76 and redoctober83 Thank this. -
