    first of all,this is correct.

i often have my whole next week planned out by the preceding friday. almost always my first half. i like to have it set up and i can relax over the weekend.

as far as being worried something may screw up plans, that can happen on either end,and more often its on their end not mine, altho i am more reliable than most.

as far as bad receivers like kroger and the likes, those places are generally well known to waste hours of time and you should be able to plan around it.

@Ristow that's great to hear! It seems like the majority doesn't like to preplan... What would you say is the hardest thing when you're planning your week? Do you have a go-to broker that makes it easy for you?
From what I've seen, sometimes it can be pretty tedious to search in load boards trying to find a load that fits what you're looking. And I haven't seen tools that help me with follow-up loads. So I'm not completely sure if what I plan is, actually, the best out there.

yeah i have a handful of guys that give me routine decent paying stuff. but i would advise against having one go to broker.

sometimes i dont look til the day i want to go,for a better rate as mentioned above.

i run pretty much the same regional route. so i'm not generally looking to snipe a big rate on something every time i go. i'm more interested in regular freight that pays above average rates. so i may give a little money up for getting a lane regularly, but never for average load board rates. sometimes i don't look at a load board for weeks.

the problem with this is when you do something for someone regularly it can be hard to get them to cough up when rates go up. on that note, you better be sure the rates are up,and not just a good week, cuz you might step on yer meat if you turn a lane back for a "better" one that disappears in a week. when i get an average rate from a handful of different places, the lowers denominator will get shelved. i don't tell them i won't haul their freight. i don't even criticize the rate. i just haul for the better paying ones. the low paying ones often figure it out and adjust accordingly.

follow up loads come with good reputation.

So sick of fake owner operators posting. He just did $6500 in revenue in 1 week. So tired of fakes posting they make 20k a week because they are so smart. You're not making 20k a week don't lie to yourself. Half of the respondants are trolls that probably don't even have a cdl. For the real ones yes he's driving hard but haven't seen many owner operators saying they make 6500 in a week. Sorry for commenting but tired of the fakes that post saying they fart $100 dollars a mile. #########.

And no I'm not saying what he's doing is golden either with the cross country runs but then again it's probably paying the truck, paying the driver, paying the owner, and paying the evil government. Not great for the miles but still more than was spent. Besides, long hauls while cheaper have a lot less headaches. I think once elogs come into full affect it will increase the rates for everyone. From the hundred miler down to the long haul trucker picking up in Ellensburg, Was going to Miami, Fl.

Yeah sorry I'm confusing this thread with another thread and everyone was blaming the OP for not making 20k a week. Same OP. A lot of wannabe o/o were giving him greif.

Hey @386lover thanks for the support man! But I don't hear the BS of people attacking my work, I just hear the advise and take it if I consider it useful. I don't think they were to bullying me, and if they were too bad for them.
Totally understand where you're coming from though.

Here is how it works, you pre plan a great rate, and 9 times out of 10 you will get cancelled. Yes, you have a contract, but that contract ain't worth spit out here if the broker or who ever is handling the load can get it done cheaper. And you can take that to the bank.

Also, that load may be being handled by ten or twenty different brokers, remember that. ;-)
