Well, I haven't really recceived the response to this post that I had hoped.

I was hoping someone would have more relevant info about the true climate out there.

I think there are many more people out there who could benefit from this information also.

Looking into getting back on the road with my own truck. I have over 13 yrs. running refrigerated and dry van 48 states and Canada. I have run my own trucks before, leased on to other Carriers.

Options:
1. Buy a used truck and trailer and go O/O.
2. Buy a used truck and Lease on somwhere.
3. Try another Fleece Purchase.

Reasons for trucking again.
After divorce will have no credit, no real cash, and no place to live.
I may be able to get a small loan ($5,000 - 15,000) to start a business from family. I would need to make enough to cover Child Support and savings for another start at life. Wouldn't have any other bills due to the bankruptcy after the divorce.

Looking for some advice on the reality of making a living out there anymore.

in my opinion...if you are set on buying a truck get a good used with a good warranty,and lease on with a medium to large company.
my other opinion is to find a good trucking co and go co driver...it is the safest way to get back in and form your own opinion on the scale of buying a truck...take it slow you have a lot on your plate

The true climate out here is "harsh" (speaking in weather terms). The fact is "if" you have a very good handle on your costs, and by costs I mean everything from the truck payment to the food you eat, you can make a good living in spite of the economy. Is it great out here right now, no. Is it workable and livable, yep, I know several of us doing it. I'll say it again one more time b/c it can't be stressed enough "Be careful with your costs". They'll make you or break you. It's that simple, but that's also true of any "Price Takers" market which this certainly is (speaking in Economics terms).

And, don't take me wrong. I'm not complaining, and I'm not trying to discourage you. I'm only saying be careful what you spend your money on.
