I have a pre-2000 (that is pre-wired by previous owner) so no pre-wiring expense to me to do e-logs.

If I have a load that obviously needs to get there no matter what, I suppose paper logs may allow me to adjust accordingly to make it work. The ability to do that, will come at a premium - which will be factored in the my rate.

FYI....I don't plan on driving everyday, so I can create 11-14hrs at a snap of a finger.

Electronic logbooks are OK for many of drivers but I hate it. Those e-logs are back to slavery system and dangerous driving .Many times at night driving I'm tired but I cant stop for a brake because I wont be able on time delivery. Many times when I approach big city at evening with little of traffic , let say I have 1 hour left I have to stop before the city because I'm not sure if will l find the parking spot on another side .And starting next day with the huge traffic .I also was missing 1 hour to rich my home and I had to stop for 24 hr reset because here after 14 days 24 reset is required.I was going to switch the load anyway but safety called me to stop or fired .Many times I have to eat fast because the clock is pushing me its just a nightmare.
    Im
border crossing driver there is many back ups Xray ,FDA inspections etc ,I cant eat there so after everything is in hurry . Driver who goes for more then 800 miles runs wont be much affected ,but shorter runs with border crossing daily its a pain its dangerous system where DOT and MTO is putting us.I think they have no clue how the job looks like or they think that people can work 7 days, relax with electronic logbook and make 700 dollars and be happy as MCDonald employee, who is under roof and no chance to kill anybody in the winter time

As others have said, e logs are only to level the playing field.

My elog freezes up daily and costs me minutes. It's very frustrating when you are running 600 mile days making multi stops and waiting on this stupid Pedigree Oneview to unfreeze. I never had this problem with Qualcomm.

I have had these problems with Qualcomm. We got a brand new one last year and about a month ago the shop had to replace the interface or something like that.

Qualcomm Omnitracs is the gold standard for eLog and comms. They're not 100% flawless, but problems are just almost unheard of as long as they are properly installed. Areas with no cellular connection across the US are far and few between.

I'm not sure I could work somewhere that used some other flakey system.

Been on paper logs for over 20 years, before and after the 14 Hour rule. I like the e-logs. It automatically puts me on the right duty status if I forget. PeopleNet I don't really like versus Qualcomm. I don't like that when I stop for the night after an hour or so it goes to sleep, then I have to restart the truck to change from off-duty to sleeper.
